OFFICIAL: C-USA Goes Bowling!
Big news out of C-USA today!
Quote:DALLAS – Conference USA is set to add bowling to its sport portfolio for the 2023-24 season, C-USA Commissioner Judy MacLeod announced Wednesday.
“We are very excited to add bowling to Conference USA,” MacLeod said. “We look forward to this very competitive group of programs challenging for national championships every year. We are thankful to Chris Grant and the Southland Conference for the collaboration resulting in the transition of these programs and the automatic qualifier status to C-USA.”
Conference USA will be comprised of nine programs during its first season – Arkansas State, Jacksonville State, Louisiana Tech, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, Tulane, Valparaiso, Vanderbilt and Youngstown State.

It no longer made sense for the Southland Conference to be the home of the league as the Southland no longer had full-time members in the league (Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin).
With the addition of bowling at Jacksonville State this year, C-USA was the full sports home for three schools (Sam Houston + La Tech being the others). Additionally, SFA and Tulane are affiliates in other C-USA sports. It just made sense.
For what it's worth, six of these C-USA schools were in NCAA last year and the schools have a history of national championships, sustained success even as the sport of bowling has grown. C-USA on day one literally is the prominent bowling conference in the NCAAs.

Is there any $$$ involved ? i.e. will it cost the conference more money than they bring in ?

This season's champ and runner-up. Plus (as noted above) several other powers.

Typically Bowling leagues operate largely independently run by the coaches and teams involved and are just administered by the conference who sponsors them.
Honestly, the NCAA just started requiring conferences for bowling a few years ago, and I'm not sure any league really know how to best handle it.

The big 5 AState/Vandy/SHSU/SFA/Tech can all compete for national titles in the right year. If it wasn't for Nebraska and to a lesser extend McKendree, that league would win pretty much every National Title.

Funny you should mention that... Jax State just hired away McKendree's coach.

Solid hire for JSU.
About a decade ago, you had programs hiring legit coaches and those just finding people to kind of go through the motions. I joke that Sam
Houston’s hire led SFA to actually getting a legit coach.
Collegiate bowling has changed rapidly. This is a good hire for the new program which should swing them into competitiveness immediately

Yes the story made the Sports Radio station here in Atlanta
92.9 the Game a few minutes ago.
Some very specific instruction by an asst. coach
To a player. Only problem was the Asst. coach was
Married to the head coach at the time.
CUSA “Has no limits”. I guess so !!!

Brings this a whole new meaning!!!!! LOL!
I get that both were consenting adults and aside from the obvious adultery, there just needs to be a line drawn between coach and player (regardless of sport) that just isn't crossed. I know I don't need to say it, but here we are.
GO AGGIES!!!!
