Yeah, that’s generally my only thought when purchasing away tickets these days. Where will the sun be?

According to the map, visitor sections are 113 and 516.

Yes, basically a small crappy corner section. I'm guessing 1,000-2,000 seats.
On average, each section is less than 1,000 - maybe 500-800, and these sections look small.

Kind of strange they don't put the fans on the end of the bowl. Home fans on either side isn't great for visitors, but doesn't seem that great if you are a UVA fan, either. I predict a pretty miserable day for UVA fans that day.
They may only give us 2,000 seats, but there's no way there's only 2,000 JMU fans there.

Related, found this the other day. Kind of shocking it's taken this long for someone to do this, though it's only for MLB right now: http://shadedseats.com/

Ha, that's awesome - bookmarking that page. Looking at actual photos is helpful too so that you can see where the overhangs are. I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this.

sunbeltshadedseats dot com is probably available. BJK it could be our next big venture! Hyper will finally have a resource to check where the sun will be when he purchases tickets.

Well there's also this somewhat broken site called SunCalc that's still pretty cool in its broken form. Here's where the sun will be at 1pm on gameday.
http://suncalc.net/#/38.0311,-78.5137,19...9.09/13:00
You can cross reference with current Google Maps which appears to have a similar time of day shade for their satellite imagine and extrapolate out where to not suffer in the sun.
https://www.google.com/maps/place/314+Mo...11c4m2l7g9
So looks to me like 528-531, 120-123 to try to keep shade as the sun moves through the afternoon.

Thinking this through though, it actually could be a really cool resource. There are a ton of amateur 3D stadium models out there on the web. Someone rebuilds something like SunCalc that shows the actual moving shade throughout the day in question? Could be talking like TENS of dollars in site ad revenue.
I'll invest a couple bucks and take my seat on the board if someone who knows how to work these fancy computers wants to mess with it.

Back on topic…the JMU schedule looks daunting. The successive road trips against tough competition…with a brand new QB? I’ve got the same concerns I had going into last season. In Cig I trust, but there’s no question the 2023 season is going to be a huge and important test.
