Kent State @ Bowling Green State
The Golden Flashes are heading west once again. This time to take on BG at the Stroh Center. Tip off is set for 5:00PM on Saturday.
KSU enters the game with a 22-6 record and a conference mark of 12-3, which puts the Flashes one game behind Toledo in the race for the conference title. The Rockets, for the record, will host Buffalo on Saturday afternoon. But that is for the good people on Bancroft to worry about.
The Golden Flashes have other concerns. Bowling Green is a wounded dog. They have lost 8 consecutive games. Tuesday's loss to Central Michigan pushed the Falcons to 9th place in the conference. Saturday is senior night at BG. The program will be honoring seven seniors, two of whom have played at Aye Ziggy University for their entire careers. Will this be added inspiration for the Falcons? Could be.
Kent State, on the other hand, is fighting to win the MAC regular season crown. I certainly hope they play like it on Saturday. Hope to see you Campus Pollyeyes for some stuffed breadsticks before the Flashes stuff the Falcons.
Kent State 80
Bowling Green 66

No. No. No. I am absolutely right on this one. No more pulling punches. BG is going negative in this game and Carry is lighting it up for 324 points.

That would likely require him to make a few 3's.

Small sample size, but he is showing signs of coming out of his season long shooting slump. 6-11 from three over the last two games.

He was probably resting his shot so it would be ready for the stretch run.

Call it lock and load management.
Now fire when ready.

Which means he’ll probably have to chuck up about 175 of them, good thing it’s not VCD, we’d need about 300 possessions just for him to get his 50 makes in.

I’m just not sure about these guys.
The death march back from halftime didn’t exactly inspire.

I'm hoping that the first half was some inspirational play by BG on Senior night. 2nd Half was great, though I do think this team really misses Gio. He really is a defensive weapon that isn't available now.

Hard fought win. Fouls at every turn. No flow. The refs were whistle happy.
Anyway, I think the first half deficit was as much a result of uninspired play by KSU as it was anything that BG did.
Credit the Flashes, they needed it and they came out ready to play in the second half and got it. (I guess I was wrong about the death March).
Tuesday should be fun.
Go Flashes!

So at this point Akron cannot pass us for the #2 seed without beating us in the final game.
