There has been talking at UNT for a while. There is a group pushing, but from the University's comments, it does seem they would like it, but it's down the priority list.

Interesting note - TCU nor SMU have softball teams, and SMU does not have baseball either.

UNT has been funneling money and resources to our softball program. That's why North Texas has one of the few emerging softball programs outside of the power conferences. But baseball will be back at UNT at some point in our future.

Congratulations Wichita State. This weekend you showed us why you have one of the better teams in the AAC. UNT has some work to do. This year's team isn't quite clicking like last season's bunch.

Wichita State will embark on a $7.3 million Phase 1 renovation of Wilkins Stadium, home of Shocker softball, that will be made possible in part through a substantial $1.1 million estate gift from long-time Shocker athletic supporter and fan Linda Parke and a generous $100,000 gift from Jeanie and Ricky Brotherton.

The Wilkins Stadium masterplan project will bring state of the art training and playing facilities to Wichita State softball student-athletes and coaches. The renovations include a 12,471 square-foot team complex which includes a locker room, coaches locker room, classroom, team room, athletic training room, staff offices, break room, work room, umpire locker rooms and laundry area. It will also include a 14,400 square-foot indoor practice facility that will feature a full indoor infield and batting cages along with storage areas and viewing areas for coaches. Turf will also be installed in the outfield and on the warning track, foul territory and apron areas at Wilkins Stadium in June of 2023.

Title 19 is almost always the answer to why there is a female version of a sport at a university but not the male version.

Yeah, most likely Title 19 and even distribution of scholarships. I don't know much about UNT. But for SMU to not have baseball right there outside of Dallas is just plain ridiculous.

We have hired a great Coach in his first year now. We will be back. Next year should show much improvement.

Wichita State is having a solid season. I expect the Shockers to make some noise in the regionals.
