My guess is that they add SDSU and then have to decide who is 12. Fresno or SMU! If they go to 14 do they add another Texas school (Rice or UTSA) and Fresno? Sounds like they are going to 12 and the three being considered at SDSU, Fresno and SMU.

My guess is Presidents want SMU, ESPN wants Fresno. The league office is stuck in the middle.

I don't know.

Travel is a thing, and I'm not sure SMU gets votes without media deal pressure.

I really don't think SMU happens without a travel partner like Rice or maybe Tulane.

Fresno state seems more likely.

The only potential "travel partner" for SMU would be UNT (not happening). You'd still fly to Rice or Tulane from Dallas, and, again, SMU is 4.7m from the world HQ and biggest hub of SW airlines. It's hard to find an easier place to get to.

Exactly. Travel isn't an issue when a huge local airport basically dumps out on your campus.

I would think the Pac would want SMU to offer baseball.

They got rid of baseball/softball in the 80s when they started getting in trouble. They have men’s soccer instead of baseball. If that was a requirement to get in the PAC, there would be a large donation to fund the fields almost immediately

If the Mustangs join the PAC or any other P5, I bet they bring back baseball.

We found out in the UCLA hearings that that was explicitly not true.

Neither does Colorado. But SMU does have men's soccer. With the loss of UCLA, PAC-12 men's soccer is down to five and could lose its AQ.
