The number 1 team in the conference has now gone into overtime twice against the two worst teams in the conference. If I was superstitious I'd feel like that comment cursed them.
So ULM is one of the worst two teams in the conference?
According to KenPom.
Gotcha. Now I see what you are saying.

ULM jumps 25 spots in the NET.
Marshall dropped 10.
Maybe since we had such crazy bad luck last night, that we'll get a game that we shouldn't win. I mean that's just how these things go seems like.
Hope we got that crap out of our system.

‘Crazy bad luck????’
Sorry, but I gotta call you out. Here are just a couple of your posts over the last week or so, where most of us thought you were a tad bit over-confident. So we aren’t buying your loss to luck……of the good or bad type.

Son please, we will beat ULM by 12 points at home.
On the road it might be closer, additionally, I don't think a team is playing hotter right now than Marshall.

Hey pal. Kindly phuck off if you didn't watch the game last night.
You also left off the numerous posts congratulating ULM last night. Again, shut your trap and stay out of this.

RE: Predict the top 4 Sun Belt men's basketball teams
Do me a favor then FrankyP, if you're so keen on rubbing this in just rewatch the play. You do that, then give me your take. My respect level will go up for you.
If you have the ESPN app it will literally take you two minutes.
Marshall SG Kameron Curfman was called for a foul at the 2 hour 24 minute mark at the end of the first OT with 14.4 seconds to go. He literally had both hands straight up, the ULM guard ran right through him and forced the ball out of bounds. Curfman was called for the foul. We were up by 4. That gave ULM the chance they needed to tie it up soon after.
That insanely bad call by the ref is the kind of luck I'm talking about. It's the chef's kiss of bad luck.

Riley, i saw the game.
And I don’t give 2 shites if you ‘respect’ me or not.
But I tell ya what: if you admit you boasted a little too much, my ‘respect’ for you will go up a bunch.
Or if you can admit that going from your prediction of beating them by 12, to losing the game…on your court…comes down to a whole lot more than just one bad (if you want to classify it as such) call, or ‘crazy bad luck.’

I definitely went overboard with the smack, for sure. Like drunk man rage at 2am kind of smack.
But damn if the ULM loss hurts more considering we got absolutely hosed.
ULM put themselves in the position to take advantage and they absolutely did. So man, they deserve the credit. Doesn't take away the ridiculously bad reffing in our conference.

Damn, so close, lol.
Too bad your 2nd and 3rd lines completely undermine your first one.

I get you being upset over a call, but one call doesn’t make a game. You had multiple opportunities to win after that if Marshall was so much better and y’all didn’t. Bottom line is it was a great college basketball game between two pretty good teams that had a little bit of everything. Gotta pay the karma gods when you run your mouth and that’s all Franky is giving you back. Put a little Tony’s on that crow.

RE: Predict the top 4 Sun Belt men's basketball teams
so if JMU beats Northeast Louisiana-Monroe like it should, there will be a multiple team tie for the all important 4th place and the associated double bye.
Speaking of the double bye, has the Sun Belt always had a double bye tourney format? Personally, I like that the top 4 seeds have a less grueling 3 game road to the tourney title because they've earned it with long-term performance. On the flip side, I don't see any value for bringing the bottom 4 teams to the tourney at all in this format. Are seeds 11 through 14 going to win 5 games in a row as an underdog? Theoretically possible, but a very tiny chance. And would anyone want the 11th seed representing the conference in March Madness? It's not like those schools are going to bring fans to Pensacola for midweek elimination games against crappy opponents. Seems like a waste of time and expenses by the conference.
Looking forward to the Sun Belt tourney in March. If the Dukes get eliminated early we'll be sitting on the gulf beach for a few days enjoying some cold beers. That's not a bad Spring Break at all.

And does anyone think one of the 4-4 teams could go on a run?
JMU’s win tonight over ULM was big to move JMU to 6-4 (with tie-breakers over Troy & ULM).
JMU finishes conference play with 4 straight home games. I don’t see JMU rolling to a top 2 finish, but a top 3-4 place finish is within JMU’s control.
We all know, however, anything is possible as any SBC MBB team (on any given night) can beat any other SBC team.

And to update this thread after this weeks games: USM and UL are now tied for first. USM has a 5 game winning streak, while UL’s stands at 8…with the USM being the beginning win of that streak. Should make the game in Hattiesburg on 2.9 that much more entertaining. Especially if both teams extend those streaks.

If we both go undefeated till that game I wonder how the tie breaker will be determined with both of us having the same record and being 1-1 against each other.

TWO TEAMS
1. Highest win-loss percentage of head-to-head competition during the regular season.
2. Each teams’ win-loss percentage vs. the team occupying the highest position in the final regular-season standings, and then continuing down through the standings until one teams gains an advantage.
3. When arriving at another group of tied teams while comparing records, use each team’s record against the collective tied teams as a group (prior to that group’s own tie-breaking procedure), rather than the performance against individual tied teams.
4. If the records are the same against all teams, then the seeded position would be determined by a toss of the coin by the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner.
