Just did a seach of JMU football staff and looked for the on campus recruiting coordinator, seems they have already taking the past person off the bio's list.

Her first name is Ryland. I misspoke in a previous post; she was “director” on-campus recruiting

On campus recruiting coordinator for football. It’s not a director level position, but it’s vital. It’s a primary contact with all the recruits, important job. I’m sure we will find a great replacement, but I hate to see her go. Recruiting has been so vital during the move to fbs. I honestly expected to see more coaches move on, but glad they haven’t. I think HCCC has put together a great staff.
Not to minimize their role, but I think we’ll be ok. The brunt of the recruiting is done LONG before they get handed over to the on-campus recruiting personnel. Coaches have already been chasing the recruits for years and selling them on our program, the kid narrows his list down and then this person coordinates the visit and make sure it goes well. Definitely important, but by the time they reach this part of the process we’re already close to closing the deal, just need to make sure the visit goes well.

RE: Staff Turnover…

We may need a Football Coaching Staff thread but wanted to share this.
https://jmusports.com/sports/football/ro...olley/3474

“ Jarred Holley was hired on January 13, 2023, as an assistant coach with the James Madison University football program, working primarily with the cornerbacks.

Holley joins JMU after spending the previous two seasons at North Texas (2021-22), where he held the same position.

In his two seasons in at North Texas, Holley guided a pair of corners to All-Conference USA status, with Ridge Texada earning First Team honors in 2022 and DeShawn Gaddie taking home Honorable Mention status in the same season. His top cornerback duo combined for 27 pass breakups and three interceptions in 2022.

In his first season with the program, North Texas finished fifth in the conference in pass defense and the defense posted the biggest improvement of any FBS program in 2021 by cutting its total yards allowed by nearly 150 yards per game.

North Texas reached the Conference USA championship game in 2022 and earned berths to the Frisco Bowl in each of his two seasons with the Mean Green.

Prior to UNT, Holley was the safeties coach and passing game coordinator at Albany from 2018-20. He was part of a coaching staff to lead Albany to its first FCS playoff win during the 2019 season. The Great Danes finished with a 9-5 record that year, matching their most wins since 2012 and reaching the FCS playoffs for the first time since 2011.

He began his coaching career at Arizona State (2015-17), where he was a graduate assistant and analyst for the Sun Devils, working with special teams and the defensive staff.

Holley was a four-year starting safety at Pitt, where he played from 2008-12. He was twice named to the Big East All-Conference Team, making the first team in 2011 and second team in 2010. He finished his collegiate career with 244 tackles, 11 interceptions, 13 pass breakups and a pair of fumble recoveries. Off the field he was twice named to the Big East All-Academic Team.

He was also college teammates with current JMU Offensive Coordinator Mike Shanahan and Quarterbacks Coach Tino Sunseri. Holley earned two bachelor’s degrees from Pitt, with one in communication and rhetoric in 2011 and another in administration of justice in 2013.”

Looks like a solid hire. Thanks for sharing!

I had noticed that too. There’s definitely a Pitt/Western Pennsylvania flavor to JMU right now. That’s ok if Cig is comfortable. Western Pennsylvania plays good football, and is especially known for its QBs.

I’m glad Lou is working and earning an honest paycheck.

Is there any chance we can get USF to hire Ike?

03-cloud9

Lou probably needs a new job now that USF fired their coach and hired the Kennesaw St HC
