Latest word on FOX News is he is in critical condition at Cincinnati hospital. Game has been suspended as all players are obviously upset/distressed.

Hope the young man comes through this. Does not look good from the scenes I have seen, but hope he is OK. Must be awful seeing this happen to your kid on TV.............

He looked fine as he was getting up. Then when he stood, he began to stumble and then fell down.

Squid, I agree with concern over the shot. Myocarditis is a known issue in younger folks after getting the jab. Hope that is not the case here, but it is a very reasonable concern.

I agree about it being a reasonable concern. However, from the replays I saw, it looks like there was a lot of sudden force applied to his chest from Tye Higgins' helmet. I remember watching something on TV several years ago that demonstrated that if you put enough force on the human heart in one instance, you can actually stop it. I know that wasn't what Higgins was trying to do so I'm not blaming him at all. Just a crazy sequence of events.

Quite possible, but players are hit there all the time, and its not the first time Hamlin has been hit in the chest while making a tackle. Perhaps there was an undiagnosed rib fracture or heart problem. But guess we will know soon.

Same thing I was thinking. A heart attack from a hit is unbelievably rare, and when it does happen there is usually an underlying issue they were not yet aware of.

I get the vax concerns, but the likely culprit is commotio cordis.



Praying for the kid.

Someone in my simulation basketball league Discord server posted this video. It's a sports medicine doctor explaining what most likely happened. (And I was wrong. It wasn't from the helmet, but from the shoulder. Still, that's a hell of a lot of force for the human body to take.)

Dale Earnhardt crash initially didn’t look so serious and looked mild compared to other spectacular crashes where drivers walk away unscathed but the angle of impact was deadly. I don’t know Hamlin vaccine status or if he had any unknown underline health issue but it’s possible that such a impact could have occurred in similar circumstances

Painful to watch. I pray they can save him.
