That’s real? A real article? Might be the dumbest thing ever hypothesized. Ridiculous

I want to say I can't believe they'd even write that, but in the culture we're in these days, this crap doesn't surprise me. (And the writer does realize that the overwhelming majority of football players are black, right?)

"One of the things featured was what's called a heart punch, which can immobilize and even kill someone when applied with enough force. They measured a specially-trained martial artist's punch at over a thousand pounds per square inch. That's half a ton of force on the heart! (So part of it is also remembering stuff like that. lol)"

It's also called "Blunt Force Trauma" and that's what killed millions in car accidents before seat belts. My best friend and BIL killed himself that way by refusing to wear his at a time when they were mandatory.

Regardless of where one stands on this issue, you have to admit this is pretty funny.

I appreciate the well wishes, support and sympathy for Hamlin, but I also feel some of the guys on TV and in social media are engaging in "competitive mourning" for who can seem the most moved or sympathetic.

I have noticed that becoming a thing more and more the last few years when something happens to a famous person or the right person socially or politically.

We live in such a "me" society that even when mourning or giving well wishes many end up making it about themselves as much as the victim or the tragedy. Its similar to what we saw with the George Floyd thing and a few others.

A lot of people want to one up each other on how sympathetic or moved they are. That's one of the reasons I typically don't post "prayers up" or any of the popular stuff people do. Genuine prayers are not about advertising it for the world to see.

That is a product of a social media society. When crisis were mainly kept between family and friends, you'd get some well wishes and maybe a dinner dropped off. Now adays the attention seeking of "need prayer requests but don't want to talk about it" or x,y,z has afflicted our family is only bested by how many people can reply with they are assembling their prayer warriors. It's truly bizarre behavior.

My MIL recently posted a happy birthday message to my wife on Facebook. My wife hasn't had a facebook account in 8 years.

Social media has been carefully designed to create this behavior. Seems most people are just too weak willed (or simply too dumb) to recognize this.
