The MAC has an incredibly long history of being an also-ran league in football. The top team annually in the MAC is rarely a top 40 ball club in the country, let alone top 25. When the playoffs expand and the bowls die off, we’ll get that lesson very clearly.

The bowls aren't going anywhere. ESPN demands content and people still watch.

RE: 2023 Season Expectations
I am not expecting much next season. We are going to see some youth out there. If we can plug some spots with some portal guys in areas like DL and OL for depth. Maybe some skill guys like a heavy hammer style running back to go with Hester.

Going to take some lumps I am sure. I would hope that we will be more disciplined. Limit the penalties. OL improvement. Bourget should also be more polished.

If we can just be .500 next season and uncover some diamonds from the bench I will think that will go a long ways towards continued improvement for the program as a whole. I think given a full recruiting cycle that Taylor will show out that he can do work. Had to be tough coming into a class committed to another HC and try to hold on to them.

Quote:I don’t think anyone’s opinion was changed about the MAC after yesterday, nor was reality.

Bowls are a whole "week" of non-conf play. But good competitive games to see which conf is better than another. So far, so good for the MAC.

Actually, it's quite common the top MAC team is within the Top 40. If Ohio won (QB out tho, a loss), they certainly would have been in this very down year. Difficult for Top 25, yes. But, then again, we had 2 different teams to go to a BCS bowl. CUSA? Sun Belt? None.

Bowls won't die off at all. Toledo vs Liberty got #1 ratings on Tuesday of cable TV. Granted, it's the evening of the MAC -- we own Tuesday lol. But they're not going to be having playoff games on MAC-see-TV nights. The equivalent will be when a couple G5 bowls would be in-betweens around New Years. The playoff games won't be on at the same time as the bowls.
