UNACCEPTABLE for the $ we pay and for the $ raised. I will say our campus is horrible compared to JMU as well as facilities. Frankly...they are a better choice and they have within their student body more pride. ODU has a lot of work to do.

I tend not to subscribe to that line of thought. I understand the frustration in being swept by JMU in both men's and women's basketball, but I wouldn't go as far as to say ODU's campus is horrible compared to JMU. That's just not true. Do we have room for improvement? Of course, but so do most campuses. As a matter of fact I believe ODU has come a long way in turning things around as regards campus attractiveness. And more to come based on the developments I understand are coming to/near the campus. Go Monarchs!

How many of y'all were at the game? It was hard fought and gritty. And I think we honestly beat ourselves with this one. Too many bad decisions, and too lazy with our passes. But we had some good sets and Amari Young was stellar. Crowd was into it and rowdy, and it was a high energy environment.

Have you been to ODU in the past decade?

Enjoyed the game. Ladies played well and fought hard. Definitely a few too many tournovers and JMU seems like a really solid team to do that against. Scoring one point after getting 6 point lead at mid point of OT was a killer. JMU hit every foul shot after that point. Good game, just a disappointing ending.

The Size of the JMU team was impressive, 12 players 5' 11" or taller I believe only 3 smaller.

For those who were at the game, could you offer any names of past players that showed up to support the ladies? I read that Coach Wendy Larry attended the game, very nice of her.

I heard Jack say Clarisse Machangua. But he could have misspoken.

Good game. Always enjoy coming to the Ted. Beer line was short. Fans were friendly. Players played hard. Coaches got testy with each other. Felt right.

Come on. ODU's campus isn't anywhere near as nice as JMU's. Thats what happens when you build a campus in the middle of the mountains vs. in the middle of a city.

They also have a leg up on student support due to the simple fact that their students have to live on or near campus and the only things to do on the weekends is stuff associated with the school. I bet there are several thousand current ODU students as well as alumni that never stepped foot on or near campus on the weekends. Or at night during the week for that matter.

All that being said, none of that is an excuse for getting owned in all the major sports.

Oh, and it was very cool to see Wendy and ODU stars of yesterday honored at the game. I was a little underwhelmed at the crowd, but that’s coming from my perspective of packed houses back 15-20 years ago. I heard the ODU coach compliment the crowd in the postgame presser, so times have changed I guess.

Yes times have changed when you go from being a perennial top 25 to being just a decent mid major. But we’re still leading the league in attendance. So maybe deal with your own schools support first before trying to slight ours.

Well, at least the guy sitting next to me was cool about discussing that obvious difference from 15-20 years ago. It’s not a shot. Thanks for being a cool guy.

If you’re not taking a shot, what point does it serve to remind ODU fans that attendance was better when the team was dominating? We know. We don’t need a JMU fan to remind us.

It was a markedly different atmosphere than it used to be, but the ODU coach praised it as better than normal. It stood out to me. Sorry to strike a nerve. Your team is good. You don’t need to be so sensitive.
