Agreed. Expectations should be more modest this year in view of both the conference and coaching change. In my mind, six wins and one of the Big 12 bowl bids would be a great start. To earn six wins, UC will have to get more P5 victories than ever in a single season.*
Will the weakest B12 teams be as bad as Purdue and Indiana were when UC swept both home and home series in this past decade? I doubt it.
*old Big East was a "BCS 6" conference, but no denying there were quality wins in those years too.

Do we know what the schedule is supposed to be next year - how many non league games/ league games?

3 non-league games. We host EKU and Miami. We go to Pitt. It's presumed that we will have 5 Big 12 home games and 4 road games next year.

I'm still laughing.
At an establishment called Seven Monks in Traverse City. Guy next to us has a huge UL ring on so I ask if he was a UL grad. He was a walk-on for a few seasons and just graduated.
I asked about his thoughts on Satt and he said he's a c---sucker. He cut me. Bwahahahah!

Human resources at universities are not good at hiring people.
Glad to hear that it's not just the three universities I've worked at.
One of which screwed up my health insurance at the start of the new year and somehow putting me on COBRA for two months (and I ended up just never paying it and they never even knew but still gave me coverage... so it actually ended up pretty good for me as a broke grad student with a family).
One of which was seven weeks late on my summer paycheck.... two years in a row. When pressed by my boss to say what was going on, they said that they had trouble computing the (automatic) annual raise.
And my current employer... well, let's just say that they're superior to the other two, and leave it at that.

Curious if he said anything else.
Nothing in that story sounds unusual coming from someone who was cut.
I was cut by my high school baseball team. I'd call the coach that name too, even though I barely knew him.
Although the dumbasss never had pitching tryouts and cut people based only on seeing them hit. Pretty tough for a wannabe pitcher to shine that way...

HR sucks everywhere.
Several years ago HR decided to send out a survey asking employers to give each department they interacted with a grade based on their interactions with them. We would be advised there would be a series of meetings afterward to discuss them and to see what can be done to make things better. Every department got an A, B, or C- except for HR, who got an F. There were no post survey discussions afterwards.

I prefer "speaks truth to power" over dickweed. But whatevs floats the skiff. I don't bruise too badly. BTW, I made the 16 hour round trip drive to campus twice. One time of which I drank as much of Mark's beer as possible. I'll put my total UC mileage up against anyone on the interwebs not named Ragpicker. We have plenty of big fans who probably struggle to make it off of their couches to brush the crumbs off of their chest in West Chester.
And yeah, you lost me to the North. Might not be my last stop on the northern migration away from traffic, suburban sprawl, light pollution, and idiots of every flavor. I wouldn't live in a metropolitan area again with a court order. Life is literally too short. At least 9 months a year this place is empty. And quiet. With clean air and the freedom to do what we wish in an unincorporated township. I like living on a big gorgeous lake in a place that still only has 1 traffic light....in the entire county. Most days my resting heart rate is probably about 50 bpm. I haven't really watched political news in months. Not sure I could tell you who my congress critters are up here since it really doesn't impact me a bit. Not a terrible way to head into the 50's.

RE: UC Football Coaching Staff Carousel (Satterfield edition)
Just read a great article from Justin Williams in The Athletic about new OC Tom Manning. I feel a lot better about the hire and look forward to what his acumen and experience will bring to the table. Not to mention, his Ohio upbringing and playing at Mount Union. We may have struck gold with this guy compared to the former OC with all due respect of course.

Smart friend of yours and Copper Harbor is incredible. I want a place in the Kewanaw Peninsula where they get 30 feet of snow and have second floor exits to get out of the house all winter. I think I'm going feral.

I always liked Houghton...enough of a town to feel like you're close to civilization, but still far enough away to be able to avoid the hustle and bustle of life. Having Mount Ripley right there in town would be a plus for me too, even if it's not a particularly awesome ski zone.

Since we veered off the thread into Michigan I'll add that my wife and I ventured up to Marquette and Pictured Rocks last summer and it's really spectacular. Biked the Iron Ore Trail, hiked to waterfalls (everywhere), and cruised out to see the Pictured Rocks. The town of Marquette was fun too--some fine food, drinks, and shopping.
Many Ohioans have no idea what awaits in northern MI and the U.P.
