I have a 12 year old in competitive tennis, she rolls her eyes at the pickleball players. But, I do notice the pickleball courts are more packed than the tennis ones.

USL is doing well money-wise - 901FC has had a decline in attendance, but they're also going to the playoffs this weekend for the first time in franchise history. Things can only go up for this sport in Memphis.
As much as I wanted to see the MSC repurposed, no one has come forward willing to do it. If the state gives the funding to create the soccer stadium & surrounding complex, I'm for it.
I'm guessing the soccer fan base is in East Memphis-Germantown. Why not find a location more convenient to the fan base?
It will actually be strongest among the Mexican / central & south American immigrant population. They take their soccer very seriously.

Does the immigrant population support the local team by buying tickets and attending or so they support soccer by watching LeagueMX and the European leagues on TV?

I've seen a decent number of hispanic families at 901FC games whenever we've been there - way more than I've seen at any other sporting events in town.

You can't get a time on the Pickle Ball courts in Germantown from the people that play. I do not. It looks awesome.

I would bet they do, hope they do.
Memphis is somewhat "unique" as far as a season ticket market not to use an overused word once again.
Our population size - SEC fan base buying their own season tickets for their own team - minus the minority population not being a college season ticket holder strong base = out potential season ticket base. I am going to guess there are only a few team that face this type of situation.
Horrible at formulas:
1.4M or so - 300,000 SEC - 700,000 - minority potential ticket base = 400,000 ticket base for which 95% come from.
We are in a very tough place. We need to embrace it and figure out how to maximize all that we can out of all segments of the ticket base.
Not easy at all.

What we should do is embrace the marching band fully with money and facilities. Our music department would probably resist, but lets bring in new people that want to do marching band.
Then pay transportation to bring area high school bands to games each year. That's thousands of students you could bring to campus and the stadium. We need to widen our footprint. We could do that by essentially abducting students a few hundred at a time to come visit us. They are young. Any trip to a university leaves an impression.

I really do not have a clue, I know our real numbers as far as potential of season ticket holders is far more like marketing to like Mobile, Al and Savanah, GA both are around 400,000 MSA.
If we are getting 15,000 in FB and 9000 in BB out of a potential population of interested buyers that's not a bad number at all.
We need to embrace who we are, a great metropolitan university in a fantastic cultural crossroads and go from there.
There professionals who know how to do this, I have not a clue.

I don't believe there are professionals who know how to do this. We have hired an endless stream of consultants over the years, and yet, here we are.
It's time to tackle this ourselves.
