Williams is the tSG replacement. Im optimistic but ai can say he will def be as good.
Gues that are 6-5, 6-6,6-7,6-8 and arent elite shooters olay the 4 in today’s basketball
Long had over 10pts/game last year, was out number one defender, and really carried us in a few games. If RJ is the replacement, he has big shoes to fill. We'll see

Mekhi was a good player that played his role. RJ is a similar type of player but has not been the rebounder that Long was. Im sure that will be an emphasis in practice. RJ is billed as an excellent defender. He has better shooting metrics than Long so hopefully that translates here.
Who knows if RJ will be better but you can see what role he will play

RJ also has played with some real legit big men in his time at Dayton. Not as many rebounds to go around. He will need to rebound the ball here at a higher level for sure.

Not necessarily wrong. Having said that, only 1 was a really good rebounder. Another was decent and the 3rd big was a poor rebounder. But, you are probably right that more rebounds will likely be available, he's gonna have to step up in that regard bc we don't have great rebounding bigs.

I’m pretty sure Dayton was ranked number one when the season was cancelled for Covid. Dude can play. Act like you know what you are talking about before you comment. The high scoring guy they got from Juco/Oregon is more like TSG. I was comparing their actual basketball skills not their numbers.
RJ played three years for Dayton and still could not break 6 points a game. To all the Jones fans, everybody looks good till they get here. It sounds like you have only been following ODU, since JJ got here. His players are not as good as the other ODU coaches recruited for the most part. JJ is still younger than Huggins and likes to scream at his players. Maybe he would be a good fit for WVU. Both coaches have the temperament.

I know this is your schtick now but we’ve had our fair share of transfers under JJ that played better here than they did at their last school.
BJ Stith, Brandan Stith, Trey Porter, Justice Kithcart, Austin Trice, AJ Oliver, Chaunce Jenkins and Tyreek Scott Grayson are all guys who improved their output at ODU. There are some jucos who did the same like Malik Curry.

Its hard for me to take anyone on here serious when they complain that coaches yell at players.

I’ve been following ODU a long time man. Not sure why you think I’m defending JJ… nothing in my posts suggests I’m defending the coach. I was simply defending my point of view on some of the players. You contradict yourself at every turn saying that nobody gets better here after they transfer yet you are telling us how hard it’s going to be to replace Long…

Will let’s see about the players you listed. 2 came because their father was an ODU coach. Porter,Kithcart,Grayson and either Trice or Oliver transferred because they had enough of JJ. Again, JJ, for ten years has to be the worst recruiter ODU has ever had. As administrator you should know they don’t stay long. Furthermore, I don’t think any elite players will come here. Yes we got I 4 star but after one year, he will leave. Oh I forgot, Curry went to West Virginia Please let’s end this conversation.

Grayson and Trice didn’t transfer. They used up their eligibility. Oliver transferred because his scholarship wasn’t extended bc he only had half a season left. Porter transferred because his handlers thought he needed to transfer for his pro prospects. They were wrong. But keep up the hyperbole, it’s really helpful and really adds to the discourse.

Those guys didn't transfer because they had enough of Jeff Jones.

Hmmmmm....I guess you could say we win more than we lose but the not really a recent history of going to the tourney. I wouldn't think JJ has a reputation of giving freshman a lot of PT. Yes I know there have been some exceptions.

Just heard from a Terps supporter that Matthew Hodge is on an official visit to Maryland this weekend. Cant say it 100%, but this guy typically knows his stuff.

How long has this guy been on a roster? Am I completely drawing a blank?
