But sometimes we need to step back and ask ourselves why are we getting twisted like a pretzel over 18, 19, 20 year old kids who do not get paid and are trying to get an education while playing the game they love?
Agree with the 18 year old kids part. But this isn’t specific to NIU. Every fan base has passionate fans. Trust me it’s a good thing. Would you rather have fans like UCLA where 500 people show up to a 80,000 stadium where nobody gives a damn about sports lol. Expectations were high coming off a MAC championship with literally just about everyone returning. Criticism is warranted.
Im not saying we cannot be passionate because that is the definition of a fan, but we should not tell or say to a young kid that he su*ks or is terrible especially when he is not paid for playing a game he loves.
Now the coaches on the other hand who are paid......

RE: Rock Bottom
I stopped watching at halftime but I can't recall a single pass thrown downfield. Did we ever throw a downfield pass in 2nd half? Toledo packed their defense in tight. They had 10 defenders within 5 yards of LOS and only one safety maybe 10 yards back.

Here's the post-game presser. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_ZycMQLKpc
It's short. The audio isn't working during the last part of Hammock. Hammock didn't surprise me with what he said. What I noticed is that at times Hammock's demeanor seemed subdued and he seemed down. Maybe not, but at times his demeanor seemed different to me that usual.
Hampton giving us the best chance to move the ball after he throws 4 picks (including 2 pick 6's). If that is true we are in deep crap. I don't buy that and I think Hammock is just being very stubborn for some reason. I don't care what the reason is but a good HC makes adjustments and doesn't keep doing the same thing hoping for a different result. However, we've seen that this season other times, like keep running between the tackles when the D stacks the box. Hammock better learn about adjustments and changes when things aren't working.

I actually felt a little sorry for Ham watching this. He does seem down. Like us, he probably didn’t expect this outcome in a hundred years. Last years fool’s gold affected his analysis of this years team and staff

RE: Rock Bottom
Someone hook Rudolph up with a NIL deal asap. He must be looking at his future with Hampton as his QB and thinking - nah, transfer portal here I come.

Hammock will not learn because he is too damn stubborn. As the ship sinks, he will do nothing to save it.
