Wouldn’t mind seein Mets-Padres go a few extra. 16 would be terrific!

1 thing that I feel is that they should reseed after the WC round. No reason why the Dodgers should have a tougher opponent in the LCS than the 2 seed Braves.
Hopefully that change gets made for next year.

also went back to 2020 WC series. Game 1 winners went 6-2. Home winners of game 1 went 3-0.
So we're up to 9-2 on Game 1 winners with the Padres Mets left to figure out.
Home winners of game 1 now 4-0.

so Mets lose 5 of 6 games the last 2 weekends, where if they win 1 of those 5 losses, they're still playing on Tuesday.

It hurts. Actually feel sorry for them. They had a great team this year but all most people will remember is the debacle at the end. One game was the difference for them. Braves ended in Miami and lost 2 of 3, but they got the one win they needed. Metz didn't. Musgrove pitched outstanding, but Scherzer looked off to start on Friday. Have not heard anything about him since. The NY press will have fun ripping them, and they have lots of work to do in the offseason, but they were a really good team and probably deserved better.
Nervous about the Phils not because we haven't handled them this year, but because they may have caught what you fear most in a postseason: magic. St. Louis gifted them a win in Game 1, but to their credit they didn't squander it and took it to them in Game 2. Braves will have their hands full, and last year we had the magic. Usually doesn't happen 2 times in a row. This year we were just good. But magic can mess with that sometimes. Also, not so good in day games and get the shaft from mlb with the early playoff game start once again. F the Yankers. Let them start at 1pm.
All the remaining series are interesting and will be fun to watch. Rooting for Seattle to upset Houstless. But not gonna hold my breath form that one.

To me the LDS round now, game 1 is must win for the home teams. I mean take Phils/Braves series. If Phillies win game 1 with Ranger Suarez, Braves are looking at games 2 and 3 with Wheeler and Nola.

RE: 2022 MLB Playoffs (Postseason) Thread
Thoughts on the Musgrove Incident? I don't think it was just the shiny ear that prompted Buck to alert the umps. Musgrove's spin rates were up 100-200 rpm over his season averages. I'm definitely not saying he had sticky stuff - playoff baseball/adrenalin/etc. - but that's big enough jump that, assuming Buck had access to the data, would reasonably prompt a manager to call for a check. Unfortunately for the Mets, I think it just fired Musgrove up even more.
So good news for the Dodgers is they don't have to see Darvish, Snell, or Musgrove more than once. The bad news is that SD's bullpen wasn't taxed at all. Other than a clear Game 1 advantage (and Game 1 wins ARE very important), it's a pretty even matchup. Hope the Dodgers hitters got the rest and reset they needed after a very slumpy last couple of weeks of the regular season.

Yeah, I agree. We're not that hot in day games. Plus the delay resting (good) not playingf (bad).
Phils showed if you give them an opening they will take it.
Plus, lots of road teams won series in WC round. That Home field advantage wasn't all that important after all. Phils would not even have been in playoffs under last year's format. Hope that doesn;t bite us.
Meanwhile, in Lalaland...Padres look to also be able to take an opening and runn with it if Dogs want to give them one. Somehow, I don't thuink they will.

Announcers said he changed his stance to be a bit more upright recently and that gave him extra velocity/spin. plus the adrenaline of playoffs. I understand Showalter was trying to rattle him and give his team something to rally around but it ended up looking rather foolish. Metz died in Atlanta last week. It's a shame, but that's the way the ball bounces.

The Phils remind me a smidge of the 2019 Nats. Tomorrow a huge game obviously.

I was surprised to see their run differential with the Braves so close. It's only -3.

RE: 2022 MLB Playoffs (Postseason) Thread
As noted in the other thread, Kimbrel is not on the 26 man post season roster. Recently injured guys who ARE on: Chris Taylor, Blake Treinen, Dustin May. The most interesting is Treinen. He has 5 IP this year: 3 in April and 2 in September. But Dodgers would still rather have him on the roster than Kimbrel. (LOL) I can see why they'd do this. His stuff really is unhittable when he's on. So his recent bullpen/simulated game work has either been very good or at least an indication that he's feeling himself. Also, they're super confident in the other relievers they're carrying.
Also sort of notable: Klay Thompson's younger brother Trayce made the roster. Not a big contact guy but has really come through in big moments this year. Came to the Dodgers in June and slashed .268/.364/.537.
