RE: Spending - Academics vs Athletics
These numbers are more than a decade old. No way MAC FB programs currently outspend SB programs.

Lol. Maybe you can start a thread on Casey Kasem’s 2010 Top 40.

RE: Spending - Academics vs Athletics
This link has 2021 numbers on athletic spending: https://knightnewhousedata.org/
In 2021 Sun Belt schools spent, on average, $30.6 million on athletics while MAC schools spent $25.84.
Edit
This database is kinda great. This link shows 2021 FB spending in the MAC vs Sun Belt: https://knightnewhousedata.org/reports/6b9156ba
Last year each Belt school spent, on average, about $2.7 million more on their football program than did the average MAC school.

Thanks. I was mainly interested in comparing the ratio of academic to athletic spending. Maybe you could also update that. I suspect MAC schools may spend more on academics.

I'm sure academic costs are more expensive in midwest than down south. I think part of the appeal of moving south is the cheaper cost of living.

I live in the south in the winter and the only thing less expensive is my home/property tax and gas. But I have to pay 10% tax on food. So I think expense is it wash. But what I am more interested in is who prioritizes sports vs academics.

Many people in Illinois pay property taxes greater than $10k per year. Plus a 6-10% sales tax (depends on the county) on groceries. Illinois gas tax is 2nd highest in the country.
