Surprised that no one has noted the fact that North Texas was 1-0 coming into the game, defeating a G5 team (UTEP) convincingly, and yet was blown away by SMU.

The story of the game in one respect - although this will have to be confirmed - is that SMU may have a very good football team this year.

While all this may be true we’ll see what weeks 3&4 bring for the Ponies. Maryland away and The Froggies at home will be a great measuring stick for a perennial P5 door-knocker. We’ll see what they do against bigger, stronger, faster, deeper competition.

SMU has moved up to #23 in the ESPN football power index and on teamrankings.com, and they're ranked (#23) in the current ESPN top 25.

They moved up 30 points, having been ranked ~#53 the previous week. Talk about a "mind-blowing" improvement!
