And, since it becomes a conference game next season, I thought I'd include this article from back in October of last year.

The line on this game has moved a little. The Ponies are now a 9.5 point favorite.

I'm getting ready to head out for the game, but will be back on here late tonight to congratulate SMU should they win. Let's hope for a good entertaining game with no injuries.

Why are UNT fans obsessed with turning this into a rivalry? You can’t force it. Once matches are played with actual stakes then sure maybe.

Just checked winsipedia...didn't realise the series history went back so far.

correct me if I am wrong, but in The Safeway Bowl the trophy is kind of opposite instead of the winner getting to take home a trophy the loser has to take home a Safeway cart filled with the junk from a homeless person dwelling in the city of the winner
