CMU game was an odd one. It was 51-15 in the 3rd qtr. Then I see the final score and CMU had 44 points. Looks like CMU QB went off for over 400 yards but Lew Nichols was kept in check.

RE: Week 1 MAC Football Gamethread
I was at the NIU game. We played so vanilla on offense the whole game. I think we threw the ball seven times in the first half? We were up 28-6 with less than 6 mins left in 3rd qtr. We had thrown maybe two or three total balls more than 20 yards downfield going into the 4th qtr.

I think Hammock is not going to be happy with that performance and is probably regretting playing so vanilla and giving EIU a chance to tie the game at the end.

If we were any good this year the EIU game should have been a blowout. Defense looks every bit as bad as last year.

Their QB was running for his life often, elusive, and somehow still kept completing passes. Outside of his two INTs he played pretty well.

Hopefully this was us just being vanilla and playing down to our competition.

Dear Barna,

I'm in a good mood, so I'm gonna rep you +2 just because I like your style of always saying "Dear". I still think EMU might rock the MAC world this year......

I'm a big fan of Creighton for where he has EMU positioned and if EMU gets silly and ****-cans him like Akron did to Bowden because they got a little too in front of themselves, then I will reconsider my thoughts about EMU admin. Creighton is even better to EMU then Bowden was to Akron...... (Who Akron crapped on) I feel strongly that Creighton should be adorn at EMU until eventually he is hired away to a bigger program.... and as much as that will sting, you should be happy that he is because that means he did good for EMU Eagles....

Dear Ken Barna,

I hope you agree?

Dear Miami (Oh) Yeah !,
I totally agree with your statement about Coach Creighton. Besides being our football coach, he has gone to many lengths as you described, to enhance the Eastern program.
I have talked with him several times and you couldn't find a more positive, nice, genuine, person.

I tend to think Creighton is a MAC West title away from legit interviews with lower-level P5/upper-end G5 schools.

As it stands now, he's obviously too good to get canned (what he's done to the previously moribund EMU program is impressive), but just not good enough to get snagged by a larger program. A MACC appearance will likely get him those calls.

Lester's kind of in the same (row the) boat. His records have ranged from 6-6 to 8-5 over his six seasons. Kind of "meh" and won't attract any outside attention, but MAC schools don't tend to fire coaches who never post a losing season (yet).

Dude you're 81 years old....stop trolling the message boards. Even worse, you use your real name which means all of your information is publicly available. Why people troll forums is dumb, but doing it with their real name is truly remarkable.

I'm proud of the way my team played. We hung 44 points on the #12 team in the country. We were down big and came back to make the game close. Not to mention, OSU was still airing the ball out with their starters in, when we scored those points. Anyone that watched the game knows this.

CMU proved more in that game than EMU has in 100 years of football. Sorry EMU fans, I have no issue with your program, but Ken is one of the worst posters on this forum.

Nice to hear, Ken. And you have a good one.... and won't get poached until he wins 10 games, the MAC, and a bowl.... but then you have to let him loose. But in that scenario you also have to be happy.

Part of it is that NIU's administration does everything possible to make the game day atmosphere worse every year. If we have a marketing department, they don't do anything. Very poorly run. Of course, Toledo's stadium is in an actual city with a decent number of people nearby. DeKalb is pretty small and it was a weeknight which didn't help.

Bowling Green usually opens on the Thursday before Labor Day when it has a home game. The crowd is usually pretty good -- 15,000+. I think part of the point of it is to get students at a football game as part of their first week of activities, and before the freshmen go home for Labor Day weekend. (As so many seem to do.)

The NIU students showed up last night. It was the out-of-towners who did not. The West grandstands attendance, where most of those folks sit, was poor. I don't really blame them though. I had to start work really early yesterday just to get off early enough to make it to the game. Didn't have any time tailgate or get the full gameday experience. I asked multiple people to come to the game with me yesterday, even trying to entice them with extra tickets I had. No one took me up on it.
