However, the difference was much tighter defense. Carly already with 10 digs, followed closely by McCardell with 8 and Mansfield with 7.

Strange-- no halftime break going into the 3rd set.

18-11 after yet another block. This is the most blocks in a set by Rice in memory.

21-11 14 block assists in this one set alone! Anota leading the way with 7 block assists and one solo block.

21-14 as we made 3 consecutive attack errors (our first of this set).

25-16, 3rd set. Now let's finish this!

Rice takes the 2-1 match lead 25-16 with a dominant performance led by their defense (14 block assists, 1 block solo, 15 digs and only 1 reception error). LSU hit% was 0.000 for the set (10 kills, 10 attack errors-- mostly via blocks).

Foord and Courtley have combined for 17 kills (vs. 4 attack errors).

3-6 Off the a very sloppy start (service error, reception error and 3 attack errors, without a kill yet).

6-9 No defense so far this set.

8-10. Adekunle having trouble getting the ball to the floor this match. Courtley having a good match though.
