Bichelmeyer must be hurt or sick as she hasn't checked into the match.

Rice takes the third set and completes the sweep vs Houston, 25-18.
Final Rice stats -
Kills: Adekunle 13, Maruska 10, Courtley 7, Graham 6, Foord 6, Kostelecky 5
Assists: Graham 37
Digs: McCardell 12, Harris 11, Maruska 8, Graham 6

Obviously was unable to watch the match but Courtley took way too many swings (30) to only have 7 kills. Maruska continues to get errors (6).
Only 3 service errors.
Freshman Ogunlana got the final kill.

Nice win over the preseason #2 team in the AAC. We held some of their best hitters to really low percentages too, so our defense must have been very strong.

Good win. Finally, some good news after disappointing loses in soccer

Nice start to the season as UH is no slouch. I knew something had to be up with Bichelmeyer. Hopefully, Ellie is not out for long as we REALLY need her. Courtley is the same player she was last year-- way too inefficient. At least she was not racking up the errors this time, but still. Maruska has got to elevate her game. She's got the talent, but she tries to be too perfect and ends up hitting too many balls out. She's got the power; use it! Until Ellie returns, we really should be going to Anota more; certainly more than 8 attempts per set. At least our efficiency improved significantly the final two sets, and our defense was strong throughout. Appears that Darby Harris will be seeing considerable action as defensive specialist (and server) this year as she looks to fill Carly's setter shoes next year She and fellow Freshman, Mansfield, will hopefully provide a bit of an upgrade in backline defense.

Onward and upward. Let's repeat later this afternoon.

16-3 with 2 blocks and 2 aces already and no attack errors. Keep it up, ladies. Genny already putting in the subs.

Never much liked that approach. When the opponent is on the ropes, finish them, don’t give them a sporting chance.
