You seem so sure about the end result when literally nobody has any concrete facts about what the documents are and if there was a motive behind it.

I have, and will continue to admit when I'm wrong about something, and this is no different.

And I'm confident that there were classified documents there. Especially since Solomon just released, uncontested, the letter from the NARA which says there were classified documents there in the first batch of documents that they got back. So it stands to reason there will still more documents there, likely also classified, that were recovered. And regardless of the classification, these documents were never trump's based on what we know. And there's little reason to expect we'll ever see anything to the contrary as trump would have had plenty of time to show it by now.

So I see now way how this will ever go down as a fishing expedition. Now, whether they can ever get enough evidence to be able to convict trump remains to be seen. As with Hillary, you pretty much have to prove they knew what they were doing was reckless...and I don't think Hillary was charged as they probably knew they could not make the case in court. And the cases aren't really that similar. trump got a subpoena after he held some documents back, and ignored that subpoena. And if reports are accurate, it was way more than just a few things like in Hillary's case. Not that that alone excuses her actions, but it does completely change things when you're apparently dealing with this much volume.

That is where I suspect more information will come out in time. It seems as though the FBI/DOJ thought he was still hiding more documents, hence the reason why they get the warrant and searched areas besides that storage room. He said he had given all classified information back to the gov't in June, but supposedly they found more when they served the warrant a couple weeks back. That would show that they possibly had someone in his inner circle saying he was not truthful in June, and that they knew the types and locations of other documents. Time will tell on this.
