I'm shocked - such stuff from people that call themselves fans! What in the hell would they say if they really weren't fans? About the same....

I truly despise some of the @ssholes on this board and I’ve never met them.

Really --now thats telling --off with their heads HUH LOL-----god forbid TIGER fans have dissenting/diverse opinions/views --we dont all live in fairy tale PRETENDER land ----some are proponents of facts and realism

I bet everyone that posts here on a regular basis HOPES the TIGERS go 14-0----but it doesn't make you less of a fan if you don't think it will happen --or if you think Miss St will cover the 16.5 ---------------------like someone posted a couple weeks ago---if somebody REALLY thought the TIGERS were going to cover that line or win straight up ---then they would bet the farm with borrowed $$$ on the TIGERS

its one thing to have a dissenting opinion, quite another to bash the coach damn near every post.
A person with a dissenting opinion could say, I don't have much faith in the coaches, and I think we win 3 or 4 games...and leave it at that...but some posters here have to make up snarky/cute (in their minds anyways) nicknames for Coach Ryan Silverfield.
Now I know he gets paid to have thick skin. Taking criticism is a part of the job. The man has obviously been putting in the time and effort, as evidenced by his recruiting.
Some things like injuries are beyond his control.
The things he can control...the jury may be out on still, and that would be a fair assessment.
But to keep saying the same ole ish, over, and over, and over, and over...we get it, some of y'all don't like Ryan Silverfield. It gets really old after a while. No need to keep repeating the same old tired ish over and over.

Again another poster that presumes he/she has the right to dictate how another TIGER fan pose/construct a post---the right to even tell other TIGER fans when and what and how they should post

Do you EVER question the so-called happyclapper fans- with their SAME OLD ISH OVER AND OVER --the fairy tale fans that think we are always the 2nd choice to be called up by any and all conferences --the coach worshippers . The fans that really THINK not HOPE that we are going 14-0--- Do you EVER choose to remind those fans that there is something called reality ---that there is a reason we keep getting passed over on the first segment ---that there is a reason we went 6-6----that there is a reason 1/2 the fan base got turned off--that there is a reason we have trouble raising $$--do you ever question the posters that REPEATEDLY post nonsense that EVERYTHING is ALWAYS 100% rosy @ the university --when anyone with 1/2 a brain knows that isn't the case ---do you ever question the fans that ALWAYS ALWAYS make excuse after excuse like injuries for a loss---like we are the ONLY TEAM TO HAVE INJURIES --the PRETENDER crowd

Can you ever be fair and balanced ?---or are you always biased against facts and realism

Great post. Get ready for jacjjaw to rip into you and me.

...attack jacjjaw --then expect to get ripped ----You think you are the only person that can make rude remarks-----do you actually think that if you attack a poster -they shouldn't respond to the attack----are you beyond reproach ---a KAREN you are aren't you ----I attack a poster when attacked rudely by said poster --not before

And missed playing Hawaii

And missed Henigan a few games

Team was probably a little better than 6-6 indicated, at least last season. Some seasons you win a bunch of close games too

And won 5 or 6 by a touchdown or less the previous year whats your point..

03-lmfao

We cant win the close ones anymore?

Each took over their programs after all-time highs.

Each can recruit really well partly base off momentum from previous program success.

Pastner could never quite get over the hump and quite frankly became a weirder and weirder Far Side character as the years passed and the pressure got to him.

Silver is approaching that same career crossroad this year....

In only 2 seasons you're comparing him to one the most underachieving coaches in Memphis Basketball history. Football and basketball are two different animals. 1st year was a transition year. 2nd year was breaking in a freshman quarterback with alot of new faces. This all during a pandemic. You don't see the results of a coach until his first recruiting class are juniors and seniors. Same thing with Justin Fuente and Mike Norvell.

Exactly!! And the players we have are all in. They want to be here and many could go elsewhere.

Could this not be said about every team in college football

Everyone had to deal with the Pandemic. Third year usually tells the tale for a college coach - not always but usually.

Fuente's third season was 2014. That was his breakout year at Memphis.

Norvell did it his 2nd (and then 4th) seasons but he got to follow Fuente.

This is Silverfield's third year. He got to follow both Fuente and Norvell.

This should be the year he gets it done if he's going to get it done....

Now that's actually a realist view.

How am I being that ?-----it sounded to me he was making excuses for RUIN----and as for starting a freshman----WHO CHOSE TO DO THAT--------and think goodness he did

The jury is still out on Silver but the parallels with Pastner are scary so far

Each took over their programs after all-time highs.

Each can recruit really well partly base off momentum from previous program success.

Pastner could never quite get over the hump and quite frankly became a weirder and weirder Far Side character as the years passed and the pressure got to him.

^THIS^----and with this years projected (EVEN) weaker schedule 86th than last season 80th-----if he doesn't --what will be the excuses this time--what excuse gives him a free pass this time

I think a lot of folks on here just think its cute or funny to be very pessimistic about everything all the time. Criticism of CRS is acceptable. He had a 6-6 season last year and that is beneath the standard of this school’s football program. When criticism gets excessive however is when it seems like you want the coach and the football program to fail. Sometimes some of y’all make it seem like that. When we win 9 games this season I expect most of the critics to change their tunes.

When did you become a fan? 5 years ago?

Unfortunately we have had a historically poor program since the 70's and 6 wins in a season should not be looked down on. I for one remember where we came from.

I think standards change over time and the modern standard for our football team was set by Mike Norvell. I think it’s fair to hold our football program and our football coach to that standard. Eight wins is a minimum expectation here now. It doesn’t matter what happened in decades past. I ain’t interested in ancient history. This is a new era of Memphis football.

Ryan has been a good recruiter and a mediocre HC. He needs to get better on the sidelines.

That being said, I see no pros on this team… no Calvin Austins, Antonio Gibsons, Darrell Hendersons, Tony Pollards or Anthony Millers. Its one think to amass 3-4 star guys & solid recruiting classes, but pros make plays & win big games. Mike Norvell & Justin Fuente have a talent for recognizing diamond in the rough talent… guys we could get. Its too early to say if Ryan has that same ability.

What exactly are the positives being downplayed since rankings & ratings are simply opinions versus actual play on the field.

Well for one, looks like we are finally looking toward a better balance on both sides of the ball. Don’t know about you but I have tired of watching us not be able to hold big leads.
