Did you happen to be an RA at Richardson Towers? I lived there my frosh year, and had an RA with a similar nickname as yours. He was also on a long-term graduation plan.

No, I lived at home most of my time. Never lived in the dorms.

Yeah, now that I think about it, the RA's nickname was Zap. Wonder whatever happened to that dude? Things that make you go, hmmm...

I applied for and was accepted into 2 other schools. I chose to stay home because my girlfriend was here. She broke up with me the August before my freshman year.

Graduated from Arkansas State and moved to Memphis. Eventually all of my friends were Memphis grads. in college fraternity brother Jim Kyle had me hooked on Tiger basketball during the Finch years.

Grew up in Memphis, and family were Tigers fans, especially basketball (earliest memories were of Keith Lee, Dana Kirk, etc). Sent my standardized test scores off to some other schools when I was in high school, and always to Memphis, but never got anything back from them although other schools sent me all sorts of stuff.

Researched on my own to see what I needed on ACT for scholarship to everywhere and found out I qualified for full ride to Memphis. Although I did at other schools as well (and was honestly preparing to go to Miss State or Auburn), once I received formal scholarship offer from Memphis it was over.

I was so disappointed in that whole process, but I honestly didn't want to go anywhere else.

Honesty is the best policy I suppose. Went to Ole Miss for Pre-Med. Decided not what I wanted to do after volunteering at the VA. Came home and got 2 degrees from Memphis.

Went to school wherever our family was. Went to Memphis State from 77-79. Then moved to Cali then Hawaii so went to SJSU for one semester and got my degree from Hawaii.

I moved to TN my junior year of HS (Tipton County). I was an unmotivated slacker who slept through high school with high scores and grades…my parents knew nothing about preparing me for college. I applied to UofM and CBU when I was 16, got a full ride both places but CBU annoyed me so I went to the UofM.

Not exactly a motivational story, but all’s well that ends well.

I was living in Knoxville over the summer and was enrolled at ut for the fall semester of 1978 when my mother passed away. I returned to my family in Memphis and enrolled at Memphis State.

I didn't finish, but hindsight being 20/20 I should have passed on college altogether. I went to University of Arkansas at Fayetteville because one of my aunts graduated from there, so I wanted to go there as well. I wasn't happy there (actually with school period) and wanted to go somewhere else. My mother asked me where and the first thing that hit me was Memphis despite having no connection there. Not long after that decision, Memphis beat Tennessee in 96 so I felt good about going. I actually withdrew that Fall semester. Once I got to Memphis that Spring I learned they didn't have the major I wanted. After changing majors a few times I ended up having too many hours and couldn't get financial aid anymore so I was unable to finish.
