This is UTEP's WAC road game per CUSA/WAC scheduling agreement. ACU fans will want to see their former coach get beat. Added spice.

My preference for UTEP's home WAC opponent is Tarleton State who's head coach is Billy Gillispie, former UTEP head coach. A little added spice for that game too.

Oh, are they going to mix them up? I had assumed the home-away draws would be home and away with the same team.

Could be. I have not heard and really won't know until our home WAC opponent in named.

From Kyle MacDonald, WAC Hoops Digest:

Aggie hoops fans might be interested in this…in the WAC/CUSA Alliance, the Aggies will play at SFA and host CBU.
Also, got told the other day that Mark Madsen and Cal have reached out to Jason Hooten about possibly getting a game scheduled.

Good deal. Looks like the opponents will be different home and away.

Good rumor source says UTEP will participate in the Gulf Coast Showcase with Iona, Hofstra, Long Beach St, Buffalo, Wright St and Illinois St with one more team TBA. Dates Nov 20-22. Ft Myers area.

Edit: apparently this good rumor source may have been wrong. Possibly. So nevermind. For a while anyway.

Interesting.

Not what I'd have expected, but I guess given the teams we're talking about it's fine. I had just assumed it'd just be pairs playing home and away.

I think it makes sense and should help NET playing other teams.

This was known for some time.

Sam Houston is hosting Utah Valley (Nov 9) and traveling to Grand Canyon (Dec 19)

You might see Middle and WKU end up on UAB's schedule. That is the only two I have heard mentioned of former CUSA programs. We did sign USM but they are officially Belt.

Well there goes my favorite home WAC opponent for UTEP. Having HC Gillispie visit EP would have peaked some interest in that game but why try to boost ticket sales.

I Know Madsen is gone, but UVU and GCU are two good games.

UVU is really good but they did lose their big Center who will be in the NBA.

Any list of all the C-USA/WAC games already announced? Curious to see who WKU ends up with. If it is based off last years standings then I am not sure the fan base is going to be happy with the selections...

UVU lost 6'11 Fardaws Aimaq and 7'0 Aziz Bandaogo in consecutive years. Aimaq is now at California with former UVU HC Mark Madsen and Bandaogo transferred to Cincinnati, but he will need a hardship waiver to play this season. UVU's new big man is 7'1 Utah State grad transfer Trevin Dorius. Overall, UVU is building a good recruiting class. UVU should be near the top of the WAC this season. And GCU should be expected to win the WAC.

The Florida tournament rumor was false but now the So Cal Challenge is confirmed. Nov 20-22 with the Surf division of UTEP, Cal, Bradley and Tulane. The Sand division tba.
