In all seriousness, why do you think OSU is so valuable? I mean I like Oklahoma State, and it's quirky head coach, but I've never considered it anything more than the teams you are beating up on.
well all the metrics we have suggest you are wrong. But to answer your question, I don't think it's 'so valuable'. I've mentioned many teams that we were left out of a power conference going forward for a reason- because we just weren't attractive enough to get in with OU. Now that said, such things are on a spectrum.....and my point is that all of the 'unwanted' for the power 2 conferences are not equal. Programs like Oklahoma State, Washington, Oregon, and some others(especially some in the ACC that may turn out to be unwanted as well) have viewing numbers and attendance numbers and football revenues that are at the top of the group. If we were 'so valuable' we would have been snatched up by the sec, but we have some value still.
Every conference has unequal value the members bring to the table.
ACC: Clemson/Florida St. vs Boston College/Syracuse
Big Ten: Ohio State/Michigan vs Illinois/Rutgers
Big 12: Appears to be most equal along with PAC. Think brand value and market value is a distinction you need to make. Oklahoma St. football brand likely offset by Houston's, Orlando, Cincy, BYU (religious national) market (even if said schools just snag a bit of said market) although only the networks know the true numbers.
With that said, I'd argue Baylor/Oklahoma St. have the best overall value but think your only valuing the brand when it comes to how the networks value said schools. Same reason you saw Big Ten grab UCLA over an Oregon along with academics. Did the Big Ten want Oregon market or to own the LA market? Crystal clear.
I also believe it was big for the Big 12 losing their foothold in Texas to expand into big markets
Pac 12: Pretty equal at this time as well, but yes Oregon/Washington are the top brands left.
SEC: Bama/Georgia vs. Mississippi St./Kentucky
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
American: USF/Memphis vs. Tulsa/Tulane
MWC: Boise vs. Nevada
MAC: Ohio U vs. Kent State
C-USA: IDK
Sun Belt: IDK
It's not just about when those schools play but also having Houston, Orlando, Cincy, BYU (religious national) markets tuning in for other Big 12 games that will impact their respective school
