Lots of senior citizens around these boards. Where's your list? I like newer music too.
I just hit the youtube music "supermix"
usually consists of the following
Chase Matthew
Shinedown
Godsmack
Metallica
Skillet
Luke Combs
Kane Brown
throw in some Memphis rap and the occasional blues
pretty well all over the board with newer rock/country/rap
Good list and congrats on getting your Drivers License!

Metallica, Godsmack, and Shinedown are old people music too. And, Garth Brooks killed country music back in 1990 when he released "No Fences". While there is the occasional good country song, now most of what gets released from Nashville is just crap.

Now you sound like my wife. she thinks they're all "middle-age man bar bands." My first concert was Garth Brooks, at the Pyramid in Memphis, around mid 90's, likely '96 or '97. I thought the whole "new country is crap" until I listened to it, and went to a few shows, wife works for a radio group so the tickets were free. I likely would have never purchased a ticket 2 years ago, now I would definitely be more inclined to do so.

Your wife sounds like a smart lady.
I like all kinds of music, but I don't like them blurring the lines between their genres. If I want to listen to country, I want to hear guys like King George, Merle, Waylon, Willie, Hank, or Bocephus, not some bastardized combination of hip hop and a fiddle. Just like when I want to hear rap, I want to listen to Lil Baby, J. Cole, Drake, or 21 Savage. I've been to many concerts, but my favorite was Elvis at the Astrodome in 1974. That was an incredible concert. I too like the blues. Lightnin Hopkins is my favorite.

"not some bastardized combination of hip hop and a fiddle"
I agree and got a good laugh out of that, even though I do like some of the music that refers to. I don't think it's country, that just where it got put amongst the genres
Some Scorpions, Van Halen, Pantera, AC/DC also work...
But, if you are "bassing" then you need some classic hip hop like Momma Said Knock You Out, The Chronic, Friday Soundtrack, Judgement Night soundtrack, License to Ill (actually, a lot of Beastie Boys material will work), The Low End Theory, Midnight Marauders, No One Does it Better, Straight Outta Compton, Easy Does It, ...

I like other rappers too. Suggest some guys.
You can’t mention rappers, and North Texas, in the same post without a nod to one Robert Matthew van Winkle…
