Mens hoops finished 4th in the American last year with a depleted team of freshman and sophomores. We will contend for the conference title this upcoming season. Football has been horrendous tor 3 years, but don’t forget Temple was in the top of the league for years before that, and we will get there again. So how does Temple move up?
1. B10 expands. They will want to keep pace with or surpass the SEC. They will expand with Virginia and GTech (these schools were both almost invited a few years ago)
2. SEC responds with Clemson and FSU.
3. ND leaves the ACC.
4. Temple, who has been playing lights out, is in perfect position geographically, academically, and athletically to fit in the ACC.

Quite frankly, Temple is most likely one of two top contenders for the ACC even without the scenario above.

When you say contend for the conference title in basketball. You mean you’ll keep it within like 3 or 4 games in the loss column versus Houston?

I’m not even trying to be a homer here. But that’s just an absurd take.

Not absurd at all. Consider the facts: our best offensive player was injured and did not play any conference games last year and is returning. Injuries during the season last year hurt in the short term but provided experience to our younger players. Several of our key players were freshman and sophomores last year and are now experienced players. Is Houston the favorite to win the title? Of course. Are other teams, including Temple, going to contend? IMO yes they are.

*checks notes*

Sasser and Mark also missed the entire conference season. We won the conference and the conference tournament.

*checks notes again*

Sasser and Mark are back.

Again. Not trying to be a homer. But Houston may have the best team the AAC has ever seen next season.

Houston might be the best team in the country next season

USF will be AAU within the next 5 years. They will be first in.

There will be no such thing as a P5 by 2032.

Under a different name they will be.

So, the question is: who's been smoking mushooms again? Where's DavidSt. when you need him?

Smoking mushrooms? May need to try that as they usually upset my stomach when I eat them.

ECU can’t get out of its own way so the odds of us screwing something up between now and then is entirely likely.

Surprised to see UAB getting so many votes (and Rice getting so few).

I would imagine Rice is 5 times more likely than UAB to end up in a P5 conference before 2050.

This. It'll be a P2 and they'll pick who they want. Nobody in this conference as it currently stands will make the cut.

I voted USF and Memphis. SMU is great, but they seem redundant to the Big 12 unless they lose more Texas schools. TCU is already in the Big 12 from that market. At least in the case with USF and UCF, you get two separate markets.

Pro tip. Grind them in a coffee grinder, put them in capsules. Or so I've heard.

Not doubting the projected greatness of Houston basketball. You have the best coach not only in the conference but in the country. But y’all haven’t run away with the title yet.

If the college super league is formed it’d probably compromise of 30-40 teams. I bet Cincy would be the only one with a shot and even then it’d be an outside one.

I think the breakaway will happen, but it'll be a P4. Cincy might have a shot, if USF gets OCS and AAU, they might be a darkhorse if they turn their football program around. Otherwise I think a few teams in teh AAC might move to a better conference, but not be P status (or how P status will be defined in the future).

There are no more moves to be made. All of the big boys with any leverage at all are where they want to be.

And no, the B1G aint adding Kansas.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that the P5 Big-12 members have zero leverage in realignment. Could see the normally rumored WVU/Kansas/etc moves to the ACC if they lost some of the football powers like Florida State or Clemson to the SEC.

The SEC just expanded... and they didn't take FSU or Clemson.

If the super league of 30-50 teams happens….sounds inevitable to me…..there will be major realigning of the remaining schools. Hopefully it will be based on geography which will return classic rivalries.
