Quoting article

Joe Abraham, the softball coach at the University of Toledo since 2019, will resign effective June 1, the university announced Monday.

Abraham, who went 83-99 with the Rockets after serving as the head coach at Hillsdale College from 2012-18, is pursuing other opportunities, according to a university press release.

“We appreciate Joe's service at the University of Toledo,” UT director of athletics Bryan Blair said in the press release. “We will work diligently to find the next head coach for Toledo softball.”

See that the softball job is posted on the NCAA site. That will put to bed any thoughts that the sport will be dropped any time in the near future.

Maybe they can find a coach with D1 HC experience either from a lower tier program or an experienced assistant not from another MAC school. Maybe with Big 10 recruiting and coaching experience.

It will be interesting to see what the timeline on this hire is. If UT really wants a competitive program, and if that means a new stadium, the funding will have to be lined up quickly. There will be a big difference in who will apply with a new stadium in the near future or major upgrades at Scott Park.

Although UT is trying to sell the Scott Park land, finding a buyer won't be easy. And a sale doesn't mean that the softball and baseball fields couldn't be carved out and remain UT's property.

Have you noticed how much fun both dugouts have in the college world series. The MAC dugouts...nothing...

BG's coach took the Bradley job and their star pitcher entered the transfer portal.

Anyone else think five weeks is a ridiculous amount of time to still be looking for a coach? What about the signed recruits?
