23 sports is a lot for a non-P5, non-Ivy school. And there probably aren't many P5s who have 14 women's sports.

A lot of Northeast-10 members are like that. It probably dates back to the time when the conference didn't allow athletic scholarships except in basketball.

I'm sure it's also largely an enrollment play. If each sport has an average of ~30 kids, then ~30% of the student body could be a varsity athletes.

They didn't say where their ice hockey team would play. They are currently eligible to play in D-I, but don't, instead playing in the NE-10 and no post-season other than the conference tournament.

I'm surprised New Haven didn't jump at the 1st offer. Well I hope, figure they'll be in the NEC soon.

So the NEC probably isn’t going to 12 then?

They'll only have 9 when Mt.St.Mary's leaves. So I still thought New Haven would be at the top of the list even ahead of Stonehill to replace Bryant so how about they replace MSM. If not them who, Bentley?

I would guess Atlantic Hockey.

Their FAQ says independent for 2022-23 as they seek an affiliation. As a DII team they are eligible to compete for the DI ice hockey championship. Most of the NE-10 schools chose not to.

There may be need for another ice hockey conference.

The AD's of Atlantic Hockey just agreed to re-admit Robert Morris which had dropped their hockey program. This will bring them back up to 12 schools.

There are (potentially) seven schools in need of a conference home.

Alaska-Fairbanks which restarted hockey this past season. Alaska-Anchorage is restarting their program in 2022-23.

LIU had a scheduling alliance with AHA in 2020-21 and has applied for membership.

Arizona State had a scheduling alliance with the B1G in 2020-21 but played an independent schedule this season.

Alabama-Huntsville restarting of ice hockey is conditional on being in a hockey conference.

Utica University wants to play DI hockey, and to do so they are pursuing reclassification of the remainder of their program to DII.

Augustana is likely going to begin ice hockey as is Lindenwood.

What could make sense is for the Ivies to take Army and AFA and start Ivies hockey. This would open several spots in ECAC Hockey and a couple in Atlantic Hockey.

Confirmed in Syracuse newspaper that LeMoyne is interested in exploring options to join either the MAAC or the NEC.

Since when has that ever been a concern of yours?

Haha, both amazing posts.
First one for it's ridiculousness (pot calling the kettle black).
Second one just for calling out the hypocrisy.

Undergrad enrollment:

Mercyhurst - 2,431
Le Moyne College - 2,801
Southern New Hampshire - 3,380
Bentley - 4,061
New Haven - 5,097

Getting close to being contradictory.

Maybe 2,430 is the cutoff.

That was the worst logo. When did UT-Martin change from the Pacers to Skyhawks, since they're also Skyhawks.
