I am still trying to figure out how in the f*ck we gave up that precious 12 pts lead against a talented team like Gonzaga.. We didn't protect that cushion.

Still, these Tigers played a heck of a game.. but the 3 point disparity was the difference as someone pointed it out.

Eh...

You gotta do the work early...

We lost a bunch of games we shouldn't have early...Win a couple of those and we aren't looking at the #1 team in the country in the 2nd round.

But I do know this...Last time we were an 8 we got freakin' smoked in the 2nd round...We showed we belonged here.

Now I bet the NCAA selection committee is having champagne and high fives right for putting us in that region for Gonzaga to have a home game!

Great game by the Tigers!

No real free throw discrepancy, but large foul discrepancy as we had 7 more than the Zags.

Definitely affected us in the 2nd half due to DW and Duren having 4 each. Allowed Pornstache to have his way.

Like the announcers said, a better start to the season and we’re not a lowly #9

Timme is really good. He was hitting some crazy shots. I think he scored Gonzaga’s first 11 points of the 2nd half.

RE: ***The Official Memphis vs Gonzaga Basketball Thread***
Wish we could've pulled off the upset but not disappointed at all. We went toe to toe with one of the best teams in the country in a true road game and had them reeling.

They're a great team and we didn't fold even when the refs didn't call a foul against the Zags until the 8:24 mark of the 2nd half. No shame. No quit. All heart. Few mistakes here and there that was mostly due to inexperience, but hopefully Penny and the players who return learn from it. We desperately needed this experience for the long run and it's better than missing the tourney again or having a bad 1st round exit.

The good news, it was an amazing showcase for future recruits/transfer portal. The pace was lightning fast and exciting. Final four type of game. Next season, let's take care of business and get a better seed so we can play this type of game in the 2nd/3rd weekend instead. So proud of our boys though!

We lost to a better, seasoned coach - not a more talented team.

You can't be serious. They are very talented. and smart. and fast. and skilled.

It’s all opinion. I don’t believe the Zags have more talent, top to bottom, than we do. However, taking into account the difference in coaching experience, yes the Zags are better. But it took a Bill Walton-ish performance by Timme to finish us off.

Left it all on the floor. Couldn’t have asked for better effort or a better game plan. Really came down to a couple crucial second half sequences. Never got the benefit of any call on Gonzaga’s high pick where their bigs just never stopped sliding. (That was the key to their offense against what was a great defensive effort from our guys.) Timme may have played the best 10 minutes of college basketball you could ever see. All that and still a one possession game in the final minute. Very very proud!

One mistake we kept making was going under the screen on their shooters...And they made us pay for that.

Agree. He has the heart of a warrior. Just willed his team to win.

No doubt, feel like we’ve struggled going under screens all year.
