I'm sure you are too young to remember, but UC blew a pretty substantial lead in the 1963 NCAA championship game against Loyola. I don't think it was 16 points but I'm pretty sure it was double digits.

It was 15 so UNC now has the record.

We had a 22-point lead against Nevada with just under 11 minutes to go in the game.

At that same point of last night's game, Kansas was only down 1 and would take their first lead of the 2nd half 30 seconds later.

Not to downplay the magnitude of UNC's 2nd half collapse, but the pain hits differently when your collapse takes place over the 4th quarter of the game rather than the 3rd.

I'm guessing the pain is a bit magnified with a Nati' on the line. Most UC fans probably aren't even sure what round the Nevada game was.

Biggest comeback in National Championship Game history. Brutal.

While I agree with your first sentence, there is no chance the bolded is true. Every UC fan that pays any attention knows exactly when that loss was, because they know how hard the second round has been for UC since 2000.

This.

I think I've related this before here, but I will forever remember that loss. My 4-year old daughter and I went to a bar in California to watch it. After the final buzzer, as I'm sitting there a bit shell-shocked, she was cheerful as can be when she said, "Daddy, I don't think I want to root for Cincinnati. I want to root for a team that wins."

The most physically ill a game ever hit me. Didn't watch another NCAA game rest of tourney that year. Even didn't find out til next day X lost also. That loss stayed with me for at least a week. We were so pumped for that team with the bracket breaking perfectly. Just brutal. Wrecked the program.

Everything you said and more. With the double digit lead I decided it was finally time to pop the cap on a celebratory beer, anticipating that Sweet Sixteen appearance. We may have had tougher losses, but none as devastating to watch.

I don't remember the '63 loss to Loyola. I do remember my mother-in-law talking about watching it on TV. She was about nine months pregnant at the time and said she got so upset she had to leave the room before time expired, fearing she'd deliver her child then and there because of the anxiety produced by that on court collapse.

Local media guy told me, Eggs fans were celebrating in the stands. You could hear the Eggs players celebrating in their locker room. Apparently, they forgot they had a game to play that night. Their pettiness bit them in the ass that night.

That game may have changed the course of history. Many believed that had UC won that game the dynasty that was UCLA's would have been UC's. It was widely rumored that Lew Alcindor was considering UC but after the loss he eventually chose UCLA and the rest as they say is history.

The second round woes started in 1997. The four losses from 1997-2000 we’re just brutal. All were seeded 3 or better and those games were just heartbreaking.

We don't qualify as your average "most UC fans." Most UC fans would struggle to tell you 3 of the 5 starters for that team.

We suffer from attention overload disorder.. 03-lmfao
