You've basically answered your own question. Diversity is about far more than skin color. Having a diverse student body can also mean students of different ages, religions, sexual orientations, national origins, disability status, and more.

Diversity, as used by leftists means skin color. When they talk about diversity, they are playing identity politics.

Why is there NEVER a call from the left for more intellectual diversity in University hiring, so that college students can learn from professors from diverse viewpoints and not just lefties?

Because that is not what they mean by diversity. Everything to the left is about race.

Diversity of income sources… Michigan people can’t pay the amounts Chinas 3rd and 4th tier students can, so they lose their spots to the diversity of money keeping US education alive.

But the funny part is, most of these new money Chinese rednecks are facing a job market that increasingly scoffs at American credentials. In other words, they all know that US degree automatically means you aren’t near the best or brightest student and that instead of automatic entry to a top university at home, you had to have daddy buy you a degree from halfway around the world.

Todor, you’ve thrown a lot of ingredients into that stew, and I’m not going to critique each one of them. But I acknowledge that US degrees are priced out of reach for most Americans, and that the value of US degrees are cheapened by the politicization of US education.
