Toledo wins 92-50
Toledo went on a 28-0 run. Another program record under Clayton Bates.

Just f’ing embarrassing. Left the game early for the 5th time this year. Just get this season over with. For the most part…it’s been torture for the few diehards that are left. Outrebounded 58-30! Never seen a margin like that.

RE: Toledo/WMU
92-50, 28-0 run? WTF?
Could we beat Portage Northern right now? I'm not sure.
I'm 110% sure we are going to have a LOT of guys leaving via the port-hole this off season, probably to division 2 or 3 schools. I hope Clayton hits the transfer market hard.

Worst home loss ever? You can say whatever you want about Hawk’s teams but they NEVER would have been outrebounded 58-30! Bates pretty much admitted the team quit early in the 2nd half when things got tough. Not a good sign. I hate losing to Kowalczyk.

I mean, I didn’t really expect us to beat the MAC leader. But these 2nd half nosedives are something else.

RE: Toledo/WMU
There’s not one Bronco who would start on Toledo’s team. No effort defensively from the get-go however, I’m not sure our best defensive efforts would have made much difference.

I mean 2nd halves of games. Not of the season.

I’ve seen teams score 14 or less in a half. It’s the getting out scored by 37 in a single half that just makes me ill. Effort!!!

RE: Toledo/WMU
So that 2-game honeymoon appears over…?
Thought we’d gain a bit more confidence from those wins. Not to beat Toledo outright (they’re probably the best team in the MAC), but to at least make that -13 line appear somewhat accurate.

RE: Toledo/WMU
The difference between WMU and Toledo is not just talent, it's teamwork and offensive fundamentals. Toledo teaches moving without the ball, making the extra pass, cutting hard, anticipating passing lanes. It helps having good players who have court vision, but Toledo would happily take White or Norman or Wright. UT recruited Lobsinger hard. It's more about building a cohesive unit that understands how to uplift each other's talents.
I will say I like how Hawkins coached. Always thought his teams were well schooled. Bates knows talent and can recruit it, but can he get them playing well together?

Hawk is currently 1-17 at Portage Northern and 0-15 in conference. Yes, we could beat Portage Northern and no I don’t miss him. Just wish we hadn’t hired his assistant from a program that was failing for the better part of 10+ years.

That's your opinion Flash. And you're welcome to it, as I am to mine. Bottom line it, I was in Cleveland twice, when WE WERE relevant in Basketball. I'll make a boag prediction right now. Bates never coaches a game in Cleveland. And it wasn't 10 years. We did make the Tournament and won the MAC in 2014.

Agree! We were very relevant in BB for several of those years and the program was well respected (and competitive) throughout the majority of those years. I attended pretty much every home game during Hawk’s tenure and NEVER experienced anything like last night. I can remember a couple home games where we were handled pretty good (BG and EMU) but last night was disgraceful…particularly on our home floor. I have no idea what happens with CB but if he’s retained, he’s got some work to do. And, I think adding some solid coaching experience to the bench would be a good start. Still smarting from last night’s game. Not a pleasant experience.

I guess we can agree to disagree on what relevant means. 2 titles in almost 20 years isn’t relevant to me. Especially the last one where #ShayneSavedHisA$$ and then we showed how irrelevant we really were vs Cuse when we got ran off the court. Still amazing to me how brutal our teams were vs the zone (Cuse, EMU, etc) when other teams routinely picked them apart.
At least we can agree the current regime doesn’t seem like the answer either.

Go hire Andy Bronkema from Ferris. It would be a gamble but it literally can't get any worse. We could double his salary and still stay on the cheap if that's the way WMU athletics are heading.

Go ask Toledo, NIU, EMU, Ball State, Miami, Bowling Green, CMU what they would think about 2 MAC championships in 10 years.
