RE: Liberty Bowl Stadium
I would have liked an OCS, too. I am 72 and held season tickets continuously since 1974. I will give to the new update for what appears to be a beautiful stadium. It is what it is, so LET'S GO TIGERS!

Go look at the join dates on those of us complaining. Then add ten to twenty-five years to those dates for our times as Tiger fans. This is not our first time to advocate for an OCS and lose.
We've been advocating for an OCS continually for two decades. We have watched our administration continually NOT pursue an OCS. Instead they have continually painted, landscaped, scoreboarded, sound systemed, and chair backed the Liberty Bowl. Over and over and over.
This may be new and exciting to you. Good. Enjoy it. We've all been here before, and we know how it ends. It ends with a neglected Liberty Bowl needing more upgrades twenty years from now. When it is all said and done, the school still doesn't have a stadium. The city does. What is being done now isn't designed to help the university. It is designed to help the city. Once you live through it a few times, you'll get it. We'll all be dead, but you'll be screaming at a newcomer on a board like this twenty years from now in favor of a new OCS.

The last municipal project the university was convinced to help finance is now a Bass Pro Shop & the U of M has nothing to show for its money. How much better of a position would the school be in had it taken its money & invested in a 15k seat basketball facility on-campus? Claw summed up my sentiments perfectly. A partnership with the city is lined with grifters whose interests will seldom align with the university’s. Oh, they do now, because they need the school’s money to help them line their pockets, but that will quickly change… it always does.

Name a school who HAS gotten an invite to a P5 conference that DOESN'T have an OCS.
baylor didnt. miami still doesnt. ucla technically. washington? pitt still play at heinz field? Nc state? south carolina, northwestern, oregon..
Washington & Oregon literally play a cross the street & adjacent to their main campus & both own their stadiums.

I am opposed to the general idea, but the devil is in the details. As those emerge opinions will change - perhaps even mine.

Is this how we react every time? No, but historically every time we have partnered with these entities, the university comes out on the short end of the stick. Will it be amazing looking and beautiful? Who knows? It hasn't been completed yet. We choose to hold judgement on how things will be until we see the finished product. There is a long and arduous journey between where we are now, with pretty pictures and artist renderings, and what we end up with for a final product. And the "team" we are going on this journey with will not have the university's interests at heart.
Oh, and those aren't "emotional and psychological issues" - they are called scars and memories.

Calm down. It’s okay for people to express their disappointment. Some have wished for campus facilities for decades. And as far as the “amazing and beautiful” rendering, save a pic of it. You can compare it to the next rendering, then the next, etc.

RE: Liberty Bowl Stadium
There are many who are impressed by the architectural rendering of the proposed improved stadium. I like it too. But how do we know that the final product will look like the drawing? I hope we are not being asked to donate money thinking that the "new" Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium will resemble the drawing, but then are surprised by the reveal at some later stage.

So what I'm wondering is why not add a matching video board to the north side, the project was only 2 million in 2019.

Is this how you react every time you don't get exactly what you want in life? Most of us here on planet Earth have become accustomed to making compromises and hard choices based upon pragmatic available options. Yes, an on-campus stadium would be nice, but not if it is logistically and financially unfeasible. Updating and renovating the Liberty Bowl is without a doubt the best available option, and it is going to look amazing and beautiful. This is one of the most wonderful and exciting moments for our school and our football program that I can remember, but some of you are crying and whining and throwing a tantrum? If you can't appreciate and enjoy this moment, a massive commitment from the university to the football program, you either not a fan or you have some emotional and psychological issues.
You joined here in 2021.
We'll all be dead, but you'll be screaming at a newcomer on a board like this twenty years from now in favor of a new OCS.
you don’t speak for everyone who’s been here a long time…calm down.
