Johnson's case is especially puzzling - a starter for an SEC school that is now the number one team in the country and he can't even get 5 minutes of PT in a blow out win. Mind boggling.
Johnson wasn’t going to get PT at Auburn either, and was told as much which is why he put his name in the portal in the first place. I agree he should be playing more though and have no idea why he isn’t. I really wish we had a beat report who would actually ask the questions just to see what answer AK gives.
Yeah Johnson wouldn’t sniff the floor playing for the #1 team in the country lol
The point is he was good enough to start on a pretty good team in the SEC, hasn't looked bad playing for us, we have depth and shooting issues, and he still rarely sniffs the floor. Makes no sense.

He only started due to injury and was very average at Auburn and Memphis
The crux and most important point of the statement still stands. He’s our second best shooter and doesn’t look bad on the court. His lack of PT all year is absolutely mind boggling.

Reportedly out indefinitely...
I’d say he’s definitely out… we won’t see him again this year, or likely ever.

But what happened, and why is it being made so mysterious. Are we going to be told he has a groin flu next? I agree that it seems unlikely we'll see him again. Minor things like we've been told he's dealing with don't keep you off the bench and supporting your team for multiple games over multiple weeks.
Back up now to 46 in the NET. REGARDLESS of what our chances are for at-large, this is good for seeding if we win conference tournament. Also, our lone Q4 loss is no more now. UNT game Saturday is going to be fun and *could* put one of the two teams on the bubble watch, although unlikely

If one of the top 4 teams in CUSA get the auto bid they will at best an 11 seed and at worst a 13 seed.

We don’t have enough minutes for you, having 3 guys that can play the 1. Hang around, be a good teammate. Redshirt and we’ll find you a good destination in the spring.
That’s what I think is going on.
Me and Dee were looking at numbers. Think there could be between 4-7 spots open up. 3 are already a given with Quan, Ertel, and Brown running out of eligibility
Any high school names? I know we offered the one kid at Grissom
We have offered some but they are in future classes, not class of 2022

Efrem ‘Butta’ Johnson at Grissom Jaylon Taylor at Buford
That’s just recent.
There’s a dozen more Hs names that I haven’t kept up with. Mainly because I feel like we’ll get lazy and go portal. I quit following the HS scene when one of the announcers said on an ESPNU broadcast said that AK said we were going portal heavy again
Forgot about him, on verbalcommits that class looks like a bunch of kids ehsan offered

You only get one free transfer without having to sit out. He isn’t going to transfer unless he wants to sit a 2nd straight year. No, he is looking at Ertel, Quan being gone next year and his PT going way up.

If he’s redshirting, why would that rule just go away? NCAA hasn’t been punishing guys following redshirts, why would Covid change that? If he’s coming back, like I said, prepare for small back court that will get abused by longer guards.
I suspect he'd backup Jelly next year - a role I think would work out well.

Not saying you’re wrong. I’m making an assumption because there hasn’t been much elaboration from folks reporting on such stuff.
You only get one transfer without having to sit. He already made his from USA to UAB. He’d have to sit if he transferred again unless he was a grad.
I agree and figure since Locure has been on the bench and a good teammate this whole time, unlike LeBlanc, That he is planning to come back and will be red shirted for this year. It's the only thing that makes sense.
