One of three face-palming embarrassments from this year's team.

We let their back up big man who scored around 4.5 points a game drop 18 on us in a 5-5 fg and 8-9 ft shooting peformance.

Unfathomably bad defense and play against an inferior team, part of a now well-established pattern for this team.

I wouldn't be surprised if we lose to them again or if we beat them by 20+. You never know what level of effort and how locked in this team will be from game to game.
Mylyjael Poteat, 6-9 260 Fr., has started the last two games for Rice. Those are his only starts so far this season.

He was the one who scorched us off the bench.

* 2 games scheduled for 2/17 were not played on that date:
• In 1979, UAB was to play Hawaii in Honolulu, the second of 2 scheduled road games against the Rainbow Warriors. UAB in it's first season was labeled an associate member of the NCAA playing within Division I. UAB presented the NCAA with a challenge as the program began in Division I and all NCAA regulations dealt with teams moving up into Division I. They never considered a program starting in Division I. There was some confusion as to whether games against the Blazers would count as a Division I game on the opponents schedules or not. UAB had scheduled a west coast/Hawaii road swing for early 1979. Just before the trip the NCAA ruled that as an Associate Member the Blazers would count as a Non-Division I opponent. This ruling caused a number of games to be cancelled to get those opponents within there allowed number of non D-I opponents. In addition to Hawaii, road games were cancelled with San Diego, Air Force and Houston Baptist. UAB was able to replace one of those games with quickly added home game against Drexel.

• In 2021, a home game against Rust College was postponed to 2/18 due to a snow storm that affected northern Mississippi. The game was again postponed on 2/18 and was eventually played on 2/22.

UAB is 580-157 all-time in games played in the State of Alabama
UAB is 556-142 all-time in games played in the City of Birmingham
UAB is 412-99 all-time in games played on campus

UAB is 105-36 all-time in games played against teams from Texas.
My guess is that the crowd is going to be pretty poor tonight because of the weather scare

Is Leblanc there in uniform or not? Or is his knee and tricep illness still keeping him away from the team mysteriously?
Bartow looks completely devoid of fans
Watching on TV and listening to radio. First home game I’ve missed this season.

Reportedly out indefinitely...
crowd looks nice considering weather
hot shooting & good d so far - 10-0
I still don’t see Leblanc on the bench. I’ve never heard of a knee and tricep illness that keeps a player off the bench supporting his team for multiple games. This is a very weird situation.

I bet there’s less than 500 people there
Leblanc is out with a different injury every game. Love our coach and team but this just seems sketchy.
13-2
Figured it’d be a light crowd. Pretty sure the campus was under a tornado warning just an hour or so ago. Props to the fans that made it out.
Great start.

Jelly trying too hard to make hard passes to the bigs. They ain’t gonna catch it, my dude. Just shoot and let them rebound
