That's rough for CCSU

Did they give reasons? Such a natural fit

"Poorly run, poorly funded, poor fan support and poor metrics."

"Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"

What schools would past muster for America East? 8 is a scary place to be be if they do indeed lose Stony Brook.

Maybe the AEC just adds Merrimack and stays at 9.

Speaking of the America East and the MAAC, this was in an article published Wednesday night in Newsday:

Quote:According to published reports, Stony Brook is only one piece of the puzzle. The CAA also is looking to bring on Monmouth from the Metro Atlantic and Hampton from the Big South.
The move would be geared largely toward men’s basketball. Other schools could be in play, among them Albany of the America East and Iona of the Metro Atlantic. To add coach Rick Pitino’s Gaels would be considered an impressive addition.

Apologies if already been discussed elsewhere, but I had not seen Albany and Iona mooted as potential CAA candidates before. Is this just a writer's rambling, or could there be something to it?

Interesting. That’s the first time I’ve seen Iona and Albany from a source (as opposed to speculation). Wonder if the guy’s connected or is just spitballing.

I’ll take what is the former, Alex, for $200.

It wasn't. But I said how Iona should be going to the CAA with how good they've been in the MAAC even before Petino.

If the CAA for sure goes to 14 and the MAAC goes to 12. I don't know how all 3 of NEC, MEAC, AEC survive. One would have to get picked apart w/ only Stonehill, New Haven, Bentley as D-II move up options. Along w/ Chicago St. from D-I

AEC is as safe as can be. They’re firmly higher on the pecking order relative to the NEC/MEAC.

U Charleston is private and out of the way. The only WV schools that might be NE are Shepherd and West Liberty St.

University of Charleston fits the profile for the Big South as well. What I am going to see are more D2 schools in the northeast to be called up. Queens would fit finely in the AEC. They have better academics than CCSU.
