Why, exactly, do we need a transfer running back? We have 4 more than serviceable guys in the stable, who combined for 150+ rushing yards in both the games Ford missed last year.
I'd be much more interested in an edge rusher.

Yeah, edge is definitely more of a need, maybe an experienced corner. There won’t be any moves until the staff evaluates everyone through spring practice and the spring game.

That’s it. Give me a whistle, a foam fabric early 1980’s UC trucker hat and the Bike brand shorts that are uncomfortably 2 sizes too small and I’ll coach the line with a guarantee to not jump ship for another gig.

That’s a big loss on the recruiting side

RE: 2022 Bearcat Football
Are Brooks and Dublanko going to get drafted?
Offensively, the Bearcats will be losing quarterback Desmond Ridder but are still expected to return seven starters on that side of the ball, while redshirt freshman Evan Prater, Ohio's Mr. Football in 2019, will be the favorite to take over the quarterback position. Defense is where the Bearcats shined the past two seasons, and that unit is going to look much different in 2022, because of talented departures in cornerbacks Ahmad Gardner and Coby Bryant, leading tackler Joel Dublanko and top pass rusher Curtis Brooks. Defensive end Mario Eugenio, cornerback Oliver Bridges and defensive tackle Derrick Shepard will be additions to keep an eye on, as the Bearcats attempt to keep a strong defensive identity that has served them well. -- Lyles

Due to depth, Eugenio, Bridges and Shepard will likely not see the field much this fall. This is no knock on them, it speaks to the depth built on this roster the past few years.
Prater and Ben Bryant will be duking it all this spring and fall. Bryant has a lot more experience than the former Wyoming Cowboy.

I'm looking forward to seeing Bumphis, Taj Ward, Corleone & Drew Donley.

Bryant did not return to be Prater's backup.

Fick is too smart to have guaranteed the starting position to Bryant.
So regardless of what Bryant thinks, he will have to earn it.

He’ll have to earn it but this isn’t really a competition. Unless Bryant falls flat on his face or gets hurt he’s going to be the starting QB for the Arkansas game. Prater will either deal with it or he won’t. Staff may have recruited over his arm in the class ahead of him and the incoming freshman class in the same offseason. Life in the big city.

You are right on. That said I hope it is a tough decision. Remember OU's Rattler started the year on the Heisman List and ended the year on the bench.

I like what Fickell said right now we are looking at 2 QB's come spring will be looking at 3 QB's and come fall we will be looking at 4 QB's. Its up to us coaches to put the right game plan in for each.

You never know. Maybe the #3 or 4 guy will impress them enough to jump to QB1.

Just like the 2007, 2008 and 2009 teams. We used 3 or 4 QBs on a regular basis.
Grutza, Pike, Collaros, Anderson, Davila, Mauk, etc.

Until summer that would be Brady Lichtenberg and walk-on Jack Perry. True freshman Luther Richesson did not enroll early.

Pretty sure Jack Perry entered the portal, but I could be wrong.
