A source told the DN-R that redshirt junior quarterback Patrick Bentley will graduate and not return to the program for next season. Centeio will look to continue the success that experienced quarterbacks have had in recent history at JMU, with Johnson being the most recent.

that's pulled from the recent article on Centeio...believe that Bentley was a D-2 transfer. Don't know his scholarship status.

Correct, according to his JMU bio:

Prior to JMU: Transferred to JMU after spending one season at Division II Alderson-Broaddus…

Former Marshall starting DL Jamare Edwards transfers to the Dukes. 6’3” 275 is some good size between Ron ‘Dell Carter and Mike Greene, hopefully he can play like them. He played well for them in 2020, hopefully can help bolster the interior of the line.

He’s fast for a man that size (4.8 40)

Looks like one year eligibility left. Good stop gap pickup. I'm sure that speed probably was from his earlier days- he's bulked up from 240, back in 2017. At 275 though, and presuming he still has decent speed, he could find a spot at numerous places along the line. Always good to have versatility.

If he’s retained his speed he’d make a heck of a MLB.

Surprised nobody posted the spring ball schedule. First practice is March 24th and the Spring Game is April 23rd. Losing a lot of experience, there should be quite a few positional battles taking place. Just hope everybody exits the spring without any serious injuries.

Interesting no back to back practices.

I'm 100% expecting more of this after the spring practices conclude. Guys from the Houston recruiting classes in particular.

I don't follow recruiting much because I like to wait until guys are on campus instead of reviewing all the what-ifs and near-misses. However, I have to believe that signing the UVA game will be a huge benefit for Cignetti to use in Recruiting. Yes, players want to feel good about who they are playing for, but they certainly want chances to play opponents that are "big-time" as well.

The better the OOC schedules get, the more ammo Cig has to reel them in.

You’re probably right, anyone planning on leaving would’ve been gone and getting ready for spring ball at their new school not at spring break. Also, the kids tweeting out their messages are always pretty upbeat and excited about their jump, but his announcement comes off differently.

I believe Cardon Johnson was the last Mickey matthews recruit on our roster. Do we have any remaining Everett withers recruits going into the 2022 season? I’m guessing a good number of mike Houston recruits still make up our roster.

As far as who might be left from EW's last recruiting class, it looks like the last of them used up their eligibility after last season.
