West Virginia (44) comes into Saturday’s game with a record of 9-1. Their best win to date is a 56-53 home victory over Connecticut (22). This will be WVU’s first true road game. They are 2-1 against top 100 teams.
UAB (45) comes in at 9-2, with a best win of 77-72 at Saint Louis (84). UAB is 1-2 against top 100 teams.
WVU is a poor FT shooting team. They have only made 60.3% of their FT attempts, which ranks 351st in the country. Only seven teams shoot worse than that.
Of course their top player, and a KenPom Top 10 Player - Taz Sherman, leads the team at 0.766. He goes to the line a lot, about three times more than anybody else on the team. The other players struggle at the charity stripe except for Sean McNeil.
After last night’s disastrous 12-21 from the line, UAB’s perecentage dropped to 68.3%.
Taz Sherman (6-4 190 Sr.) is currently 8th on KenPom’s Player of the Year List. Of WVU’s 10 games so far, Sherman has been the KenPom MVP in 7 of those games.
Here are his points scored in those first 10 games - 18, 17, 27, 21, 12, 28, 18, 27, 23, 27, for an average of 21.8 pts/gm. He has made at least one 3-point goal every game, with 4 against Eastern Kentucky. He is outstanding in shooting 2-pointers, going 56-107 (0.523).
I’ve been a KenPom subscriber for many years. Ken Pomeroy was a computer programmer for the National Weather Service for many years and his basketball analytics was a side hobby. He eventually quit the NWS and went all in with his KenPom site.
Baylor and Kansas are expected to go 1 and 2 in the Big 12 this season. West Virginia is projected to finish in the lower half of the Big 12. KenPom has them going 18-13 overall and 7-11.
KenPom ratings vary in the Big 12 from #1 Baylor to #71 Kansas State. The Big 12 is the highest ranked conference right now.
Big 12 is ridiculously deep with good teams. Probably will get 6-7 bids and probably has 9-10 tournament capable teams but they are gonna beat up on each other and 3-4 won’t make it that are good enough to advance.
I feel like if we can win this game, there will be a little bit of pressure off the team and a calming of things. Allowing us to play loose and confident the rest of the season.
Rather win and have WVU play motivated to correct things after us, than to lose and them use us as a stepping stone.
Can go a long way to putting more butts in seats, 2 games away from cusa play.

I’ve come down with the flu and will miss the basketball game tomorrow. I attempted to transfer the tickets to a good friend through the UAB site, but it never made it out of the pending cycle. I just took images of the tickets and emailed them to my friend. Do you think this will work? Thanks!

I have had this (screenshot) method work in the past.
But the last time I tried it with UAB football tix, the screenshot did not work. Mobile tickets are becoming more high tech, such that mobile devices actually need a downloaded ticket, not just a screen shot
(whether or not UAB Bball tix are this advanced, I cannot say)

Dang!
Forward the email to your friend that the Tix came to you in. He/she can then download them to their puter or phone. Worked for me.
