Lamar falls by 15 at M State, despite missing four players because of injuries or illness that have all started at some point this year. Best performance Lamar has had so far this year.

Good showing by Lamar. More than I thought they’d do against an SEC opponent on the road. GCU currently down to UTSA at home. This is a game GCU needs to win. UTSA lost to A&M CC earlier this year.

GCU barely pulls out a victory over UTSA 74-71. Extremely sloppy game for GCU. Outrebounded by 19 and giving up 21 (yes, 21!!!) offensive rebounds. Also went 9-20 from the free throw line.
GCU did not deserve to win this game yet somehow they pulled it out at the end.

Those are some scary stats. Glad you won though. All part of the growing process that GCU is in right now.

How much of the "bad" stuff piled up early in the game before the 22-11 run?

GCU played about 8 minutes of good offense in a 40 minute game yet somehow pulled out the win. They could not hit anything in the first 10 minutes and were down 18-6 at that point. They then went on a 14-0 run in the next 5 minutes or so to put them back in the game. In the second half they had another small run as well. Other than that we just decided to hoist as many threes as possible. Luckily enough went in (11-28 which is 39.3%) to give us the win.

Off nights happen All that matters in the end is you avoided a really bad loss. And UTSA would be a really, really bad loss. Kenpom has them down close to 300.

Agreed. UTSA would have been an exceptionally bad loss. Especially at home.
I will say UTSA did not look like a 282nd ranked team though. Perhaps they will rise higher as the year progresses.

Halftime UTRGV 41 Texas 46.

Seeing a pattern here with UTRGV and Tarleton. Starting to agree with NMSUPistolPete that you can't conclude anything from looking strong in the first half of game against a ranked team. They're using us for relaxed practice/evaluation and then turn on the real game when they need to.

Or maybe not. I'll keep watching just in case this is the night....

EDIT: Yup, Texas decided to turn it on for the second half, and in 7.5 minutes they're up 26 points.

50 points in the paint, almost 70% shooting in the second half. UTEP needs some defense if they are going to have a fighting chance. NMSU did their best to hand that game away, and UTEP responded by giving them unlimited 2 foot shots. We did the same thing to them 20 times, and it just kept working.

McNair has got a great soft touch. Those little baby hook type floaters aren't as easy as he was making them look.

NMSU didn’t do anything to try and give the game away. Teddy Buckets with a BS tech. The announcers said over and over that he was getting hammered and even grabbed and held on the reverse layup. The minors made huge shots down the stretch. No one gave anything away. It was a rivalry game and the better team won.

RGV lost to Texas 88-58 and the UVU game against a Christian college was cancelled.

Grand Canyon and Dixie should cruise tomorrow against lower tier opponents.

Chicago State has a great chance to get back in the win column hosting g 1-5 Tennessee State, whose only non exhibition win is against a 1-9 NAIA team. TSU has played a number of teams close, however, with nearly all of their games being in the road. Good test for the Cougars.

Sir Jabari Prince Rice with the game winning shot.

And, I'm glad Jans is back on the sidelines.

Jans made all the difference. Crazy that Rice took the last shot, not Teddy Buckets. Rice looked impressive playing the 2. Maybe Jans has worked out some of the kinks at PG…
