What’s the plan for Olympic sports?
By my count men’s soccer, men’s tennis, women’s beach volleyball, and. women’s swimming & diving are in trouble:
men’s soccer: FIU, Liberty
men’s tennis: MTSU, Liberty, JSU, NMSU
women’s s&d: FIU, Liberty, NMSU
women’s bv: JSU, FIU
any idea what the plan is for these? Are their other conferences out there who would take them as affiliates?

What are the rules on how many sports a conference must have or whatever?

It’s 6 for most sports.

I think all nine of us sponsor football, basketball, w basketball, and volleyball. We need to find two other sports we all sponsor.
UTEP has
Cross country (m &w)
Track and field (m&w)
Golf (m&w)
Rifle (w)
Soccer (w)
Softball
Tennis (w)

Likey to have or be affiliates in some sports.

Have Kentucky, South Carolina, and West Virginia officially announced that they're leaving? Like most, I'm assuming they're heading to the Sun Belt, but maybe they stay?
Similar question for beach volleyball. I think the new Sun Belt only has 3 bv teams so maybe they just leave their programs in CUSA since they don't have enough to justify going out on their own?
I think the Big 12 has operated men's swimming and diving as a three team operation for the last decade...maybe CUSA can do the same?

Nothing has been officially announced but UK, South Carolina, WVU, UCF and FIU have been extended invites to join SB men's soccer. It's said that all have agreed to an invite minus FIU right now. Will FIU refuse a soccer only invite, if so then they are hurting the only program that has been decent. The only hope they would have is if the AAC would invite them. If not its men's soccer to the ASun.

You have to sponsor 16 sports to maintain FBS Division I status, can ask for waiver to relax the requirements.

No credible source has indicated FIU has received a SunBelt soccer affiliate invite. The two interviews where names have been mentioned only have mentioned that UK, SC, WVU, and UCF have been offered invites.

The MAC currently has 4 members with soccer. I could see a merger of the C-USA and MAC teams to get the 6 minimum teams. It would not be ideal, but there isn't many options when it comes to soccer unless the AAC gives invites. I don't see them doing that.

I think our men's tennis team will be fine playing an independent schedule. Currently #17 in the nation, and that's not because we've beaten up on CUSA programs.

CUSA 4.0 Schools - Mens Sports sponsored by CUSA
Baseball - 8 schools (UTEP doesn't)
Basketball - all 9 schools
Cross Country - all 9 schools
Football - all 9 schools
Golf - 8 schools (FIU doesn't....that's surprising given the warm weather)
Soccer - 2 schools play mens soccer (FIU & Liberty)
Tennis - 4 schools (FIU, LaTech, UTEP, WKU & SHSU don't)
Indoor Track & Field - 8 schools (FIU doesn't)
Outdoor Track & Field - all 9 schools
CUSA 4.0 Schools - Women's Sports sponsored by CUSA
Basketball - all 9 schools
Beach Volleyball - only FIU & JaxSt
Cross Country - all 9 schools
Golf - 7 schools (LaTech & Liberty don't)
Soccer - all 9 schools
Softball - all 9 schools
Swimming & Diving - only 3 schools (FIU, Liberty & NMSU)
Tennis - all 9 schools
Indoor Track & Field - all 9 schools
Outdoor Track & Field - all 9 schools
Volleyball - all 9 schools
In short, 16 sports with 7 or more schools participating, which evidently meets the FBS requirement.

Jax State doesn’t sponsor men’s track, indoor or outdoor. We do have co-ed rifle.

If true, someone needs to update the CUSA wikipedia page. LOL. Wikipedia is only as good as those inputting info...and that can be suspect sometimes. Maybe JaxSt is looking at adding Indoor & Outdoor T&F for men by the time they join...

This is great! Thanks for compiling.
Looks like men's soccer and women's beach volleyball will either need to look for a new conference or will need to invite a bunch of affiliates. I think there is a precedent for men's tennis and women's S&D being fine with just 4 and 3, respectively
