MAC basketball is tough, just tell that to the NCAA. If the Valley consistently can get 2 teams into the dance every year, then why not the MAC. Too many skeptics out there. Look, Ohio U won their first game in the tourney last year against a defensive minded ACC Virginia squad. Ohio, UB, UT, maybe Kent St. and Akron, should be very tough teams come the upcoming MAC schedule.

If Oakland can win at OSU, the other team located in the Big 12, then UT can do the same against MSU. Looking for wins against Bradley and Marshall at home, would be very disappointing if that doesn't happen.

lots of shade rkt, but it's all good fun. the point of the thread was just to rile up those who have downplayed the potential of this team and Ryan Rollins, in order to have some conversation about what the rockets showed in the final 30 minutes of that coastal game-that they can play really good team basketball and Ryan Rollins can take over a game in a way I don't think I've seen a Rocket do since Craig Thames.

anyways, the point is talking about the team. i could care less what you think of me. well, I'm human so like most everyone I either want to be liked or understood. i didn't make the thread to call out anyone. it wasn't meant for east, wow, lots of projection there, dude. i think it's fun to converse or argue when our team is doing well. the emotional reality is we haven't gone to the dance in 41 years. and we were great for the 15 years before that. and nearly good enough to go 10 or 12 times since. the fan base is understandably jaded. the glass is perpetually half empty. the mac tournament will end in some form of ruin, there is precedent to be pessimistic. i just want to be that hero that says "look, up there in the sky, do you see it? SUPERROCKET!" when we actually see NCAA tournament level play. Watch the Rockets (well, skip the first 9 minutes when we look like crap) game with coastal. watch ryan rollins take it over. that is how you dance and win a game when you get there. three months from now we may 14-15 and I will be a schmuck. if the vs Oakland team comes back to life we are toast, but that championship game gave me reason to cheer and dream.

i don't know about your angles rkt, I'm no Bobby Nichols and I'm pretty sure none of the mediocre girls middle school teams i coached would have done well in the MAC, i'm on here to speculate based on what I've seen like everyone else, Go Rockets!

I have enjoyed pono's analysis of Rockets' basketball since I have been on this board. I haven't agreed with every single thing, but what would be the fun of that, anyway? No serious hard feelings intended, Pono, I was just having a little fun, partially fueled by some after-Thanksgiving-dinner imbibing. I guess there was some shade in there, but what the heck, we’re all big boys and girls. I’m not sure who will get the joke (I think you will), or think it’s funny if I say, I knew Bob Nichols, Bob Nichols was my friend, Pono, you’re no Bob Nichols.

And you and I have something in common with each other and the last four Rocket basketball coaches. None of my CYO teams made it to the big dance either. :)

Gentlemen, I also have taken my personal lumps on this board when discussing the Rockets fortunes. Been called a Wright State fan, among other things, when discussing the recent success that the Raiders have had compare to Rockets basketball. But I am still on the board and offering my opinions.
