It's six games in. Give the team time.

Remind us again how many Coach O teams have made the NCAAT, or how many Coach O teams have won the CAAT?

As for your Kenny vs. Shelia comparison, well, it’s simply silly. Kenny wasn’t “half the coach”? 05-nono Both were great, in different eras in the history of D1WBB.

Kenny didn’t even make the NCAA tournament until his eighth season (a first-round loss).

I didn’t like the O’Regan hire, but he’s done more than enough to cut him some slack at the moment.

He’s already been given plenty of slack. I thought going into this season it was a “do of die” scenario for him. I haven’t changed my mind.

Kenny did not take over a top 40 program that went to the NCAA 5 of the prior 7 years. Kenny built the program up...... Sean just needed to keep the train rolling.
This program last year, and the start of this year is performing in a declining manner.

Mark Byington built and grew the Men's program last year even with more Covid cancelations than anyone else in the league.

No, but Bud Childers did leave him a winning program, which he took to 13-18 in his first full season as head coach.

Patience.

It would be nice if we had the benefit of a conference schedule and then a tournament to figure it out. This is an intramural year at best and it sucks for the players, staff, fans and all. Basically the no win scenario. If we don't win every game (we won't) somebody will have something to b!tch about.

Lol. I wouldn’t say he left Kenny a great situation. The team literally overthrew the coach.

RE: WBB vs Buffalo 11/27/21
To me it looks like the team is still trying to figure out what it is and wants to do. The fact that Peyton hasn't played yet this season is big as the teams misses her scoring and presence around the basket. Also the departure of Rayne Tucker is also big. With Peyton still out she would be the most experienced post player on the team and her rebounding and shot blocking is missed. Annalicia Goodman has been inserted into her role but doesn't have Raynes experience level yet, many times I have seen the Dukes try to get the ball into her up close and it either glances off her hands or gets deflected. Rayne with her two solid years was good at doing damage down low. I have no doubt that Annalicia will evolve into a similar player as Rayne was but we are seeing her growing pains and it hurts the teams offensive flow from time to time. More games and minutes will help. One thing she needs to learn is that when the ball is passed to her under the basket is to go right up for the shot and not put the ball on the floor first. Too many times it gets knocked away or held. Lauren Okafor has the same issue her first season with the Dukes and once she learned to just go her scoring game got much better. To me the team is still a work in progress and I wonder from time to time how much the CAA decision re the tournament etc is weighing on their minds. Hopefully not but it is a possibility.

Speaking of Rayne I am still very confused as to why she left the team after last season and went to Towson. Due to her injury I did not think she would play tfis season but it looks like she has played a couple games so far which surprises me. Anyone have any idea why she left? Was very stunned that she did. Just curious.

Definitely not used to losing all-conference players to the portal. That loss is a big one and it stings. I could almost have understood if it was a situation of being poached by a power conference team. But Towson???

I believe Towson is close to where Rayne is from, may have had something to do with it. I had been checking box scores but must have missed the games shes playing in.

She is from the Towson area so I was wondering if she wanted to be closer to home while recovering from her injury at the end of last season. Still seems a bit strange though.

RE: WBB vs Buffalo 11/27/21
I suspect Rayne left after she got hurt because she got homesick then. It's not that weird, really. You have to realize that these girls are still kids, after all. I kinda wish she'd gone to UMBC or Loyola-Maryland, though! Maybe they didn't come knocking?
As for Goodman, here's something about the big girls you might want to consider, from none other than Geno Auriemma. He commented that post players generally take a couple of years to take where they need to get to, and that Tina Charles (yes, the great Tina Charles!) "was basically useless her first two years." I think Annalicia is just about on schedule, all things considered. She probably hadn't been expected to start this season. I wonder if Coach is holding Peyton out until conference play or if she is still really gimpy.
I like the freshmen so far. I wish he would use Pittman a little bit more. She has some snaky moves that remind me a bit of Jazmon Gwathmey. I think when Bailey Smith can hang onto the ball a little better (she sometimes plays too fast for herself, just like Maddie did as a freshman) she'll be good, and Tynes is good around the basket.
