NMSU beats Indiana State 80-66. NMSU moves to 4-1. That's four nice wins for the Aggies.

RE: WAC MBB Week #2
I'm not totally pleased with the NMSU game versus Indiana State. How we let them cut the lead like that is a big problem, but how we ultimately responded was good. It shouldn't have reached that point, but that's part of the learning process. During the ISU run, the Aggies had too many lazy offensive possessions where it looked they were more worried about running clock or "not rushing" than they were about putting the ball in.
Obviously Donnie and Tillman was huge, as was McNair. They were able to just eat up the undersized opponent. Hopefully they can put up a good showing against a more decent sized opponent. It won't be so easy all of the time.
I don't know what the rebounding stats say, but when it came to going to out and getting rebounds, the Aggies had a good night. Indiana State didn't get many second looks.
I like how the team is taking shape, but its still so early. Lots of learning to do.

NMSU's one bad stat is they commit more turnovers than their opponent; many of our Aggie's turnovers are unforced. NMSU has been able to overcome that stat (for the most part) because they usually outrebound their opponent and the Aggie defense keeps their opponent's shooting percentage down in the low 40% range. Tonight NMSU had 14 turnovers and Indiana State only had 7 turnovers.

Especially some of the passing, which is a bit ambitious at times. And its not necessarily trying to force the ball inside, but more up top. Its not working now and its not going to work against longer opponents at all.

Once again CBU comes from behind in a game they should never have let get that close 74-70. Entertaining last 7 minutes though.

As expected, Aimaq Fardaws is selected the WAC player of the Week after averaging 29.5 ppg and 15.0 rpg in two overtime road wins against Pepperdine and Long Beach State last week.
Also, for the second week in a row, Taran Armstrong was selected WAC Freshman of the Week. He averaged 16.7 ppg, 8.0 rpg, and 9.7 apg in three home wins last week.

Really looking forward to Seattle/St. Thomas. Seattle *should* win but St. Thomas has been punching above their weight with what is essentially a D3 squad:

Don't kid yourself, St. Thomas has used non-athletic scholarships for athletes for years. It's not that other D3 schools don't do it, but in part because of their enrollment, St. Thomas has been able to do it more than most, so I have been led to believe.
