Most painful losses you had in Basketball
Looking over the all-time results of our program, I saw some games we lost that still hurt me today. Tell me your most painful losses you still think about.

The first round loss to Drexel comes to mind for me. 1996

For USF our loss to Ohio, after we had beaten California and Temple and were 1 win from Sweet Sixteen.

First round of the NCAA tournament when we were the #1 seed against Kentucky who was not seeded correctly. Game went to the wire; an instant classic. Also, the Final 4 loss to Louisville after we were up big and eventually lost to that cheating program.

May be one of the greatest games ever. That was a team of destiny for sure. Those were the good old days of college basketball, eighties and early mid nineties.

Uh, how about the loss to Kansas in the 2008 natty game when we were up 9 with just over 2 minutes to play?

Of course.....that's obvious. I'm talking about games nobody is aware of as well. Arizona State game also comes to mind.

We all have certain games that hurt. losses that weren't expected. The Villanova game for instance. We were prohibitive favorites in that one.

That game is the one and only time my dad got so upset about a loss he threw something at the TV.

He really hates Jimmy V. Week on ESPN.

I was in shock. Houston, Memphis, Georgetown were probably the three best teams to not win a championship.

Houston with Phi Slamma Jamma. Memphis blowing a 9 point lead with 2:09 left in the game after demolishing everyone along the way. Georgetown was definitely the best team the year Villanova won.

All crushing losses.

The one where Kenyon Martin broke his leg in the CUSA Tournament game. I'm not even a basketball fan, and it has effected my life.

Elite eight against unc in 1993 (i was really young and remember the flow of the game so vividly)..

Ucla 2002

Nevada 2018.

The worst moment wasn't actually about the loss but was when Kenyon broke his leg in 2000.

There are only two times in my life where I have been uncontrollably upset watching sports...Bengals-Steelers 2015 playoffs and that f*cking Cincinnati-Nevada game. Literally the darkest sports days of my life.

Agree. VanVleet missed a three-pointer at the buzzer vs UK. WSU shot something like 55% that game.

You have to become numb to the pain as an ECU fan or you won't make it. So none have actually been that type of painful for me.

You must not be old enough to remember Super Bowl 23

The thing that made the Bengals/Steelers game less painful to me than the three mentioned above is that I did not think that Bengals team could win the Super Bowl once Dalton went down. The 2005 game was always more painful to me because they were legit contenders that season and the Palmer injury was during that game.
