My wife is an OSU grad and is not originally from Cincinnati. UC was up 22 with 11:30 left and started cutting into the lead. I started pacing and she gave me a WTF look (in fact, she actually said it to me). I told her she did not understand the sports gods.
Kenyon going down with a broken leg against Saint Louis in the first round of the CUSA tournament also is right there as well, might even be worse.

The first round loss to Drexel comes to mind for me. 1996
Uh, how about the loss to Kansas in the 2008 natty game when we were up 9 with just over 2 minutes to play?
Of course.....that's obvious. I'm talking about games nobody is aware of as well. Arizona State game also comes to mind.
We all have certain games that hurt. losses that weren't expected. The Villanova game for instance. We were prohibitive favorites in that one.
OK, then besides the natty game, I would say the 1957 NIT final (when the NIT was still as prestigious as the NCAAT) where Bradley beat us by one, thanks to the cheating refs with a terrible call at the end of the game. I was mad for days after that game. So was the entire Memphis fan base.
That was one of the few times Memphis State made national TV back in the day. Still remember watching it, even now.

I think second round loss to Kentucky when WSU was undefeated and had 3 future NBA players staring for that team. Just knowing that a team like that only happens every once in a great while for a school like WSU.
Favorite win has to be second round over KU in Omaha back in 13 or 14 I can’t remember. If I wasn’t a small child at the time it would probably be the 3 round win over KU in 81 to advance to elite eight.

Losing the national title to KU with a 7pt lead with 1:09 to play.
-- BASKETBALL: UAB vs. Memphis 1985 NCAA Tournament 2nd round. Arguably Gene Bartow's best team, going against the school he took to the national championship game for the first time. 9 of the 10 starters in this game were from the Memphis area. Epic game, went to OT, Memphis won 67-66 and went on to the Final Four with Keith Lee and Vincent Askew leading the way. Bartow thought there was a foul uncalled on UAB's shot and was bitter about it forever. The loss may very well have kept him becoming the 1st coach at the time to take 3 teams to the Final Four, because that Blazers team that beat Michigan State in the 1st round was very good. it had beaten Tennessee, Illinois, Kansas to win the Great Alaska Shootout, spent much of the season in the top 25 and 6 of its losses were by 2 points or less.
-- FOOTBALL: SMU at UAB, 2005 at Legion Field. Blazers were 3-1 and SMU hadn't won a road conference game in forever, but the Mustangs went 80 yards in 22 seconds and scored on the final play on a Hail Mary. To this point in 2005, no C-USA team other than Southern Miss had won more Conference USA games than the Blazers since 1999. After that loss, the Watson Brown era pretty much came off the wheels, and all that downward spiraled right on into the awful era that resulted in UAB not being in this conference already. Brown's 2005 team should have contended for the C-USA championship with Darryl Hackney at QB and a bunch of really good defensive players but instead finished with a losing record, and it got a whole lot worse from there.

One of the best tournament games of all time. Both teams were incredible that day.
Banked in three point buzzer beater against WV, Iowa St. guy rolling up on Darnell Burton's legs and them calling traveling to give them the game winning possession, some guy from Mississippi St going unconscious to prevent another final four, any game against Zavier when we're ranked #1, Nevada, losing in 23 OT's to a grossly under seeded UCLA, watching Tulsa think they were all that when Kenyon had snapped his leg...
I grew up a MEGA Wake Forest basketball fan. There was a good chunk of my childhood where the Deacs were pretty good. That said - the worst loss of my Wake Forest (not ECU) fandom was most definitely when the Demon Deacons, led by Chris Paul, got "Pittsnoggled" by West Virginia in the NCAA Tournament. Craziest, most back and forth game I've ever seen.

You forgot to add that UAB intercepted SMU and all he had to do was take a knee and win the game but he wanted to score and fumbles giving them the ball with 22 seconds left.
Our loss @Temple Corey Davis’ senior year. On the BS charge call. He made the layup that was wiped away in the final seconds. I believe we were undefeated up to that point. Was a crusher to lose our first game of the season that way.
The Michigan buzzer beater in the Round of 32. Brutal.

May be one of the greatest games ever. That was a team of destiny for sure. Those were the good old days of college basketball, eighties and early mid nineties.
I was in shock. Houston, Memphis, Georgetown were probably the three best teams to not win a championship.
Houston with Phi Slamma Jamma. Memphis blowing a 9 point lead with 2:09 left in the game after demolishing everyone along the way. Georgetown was definitely the best team the year Villanova won.
All crushing losses.
I believe it was quite literally the beginning of the phrase "Coog It".

I was in the Pyramid for that one, all the energy left the building.
For me it was the D'Wash missed free throws in CUSA tourney final. vs. Louisville.
Win and we were in.

Y'all were favorites to win the whole thing that year

The selection committee gave you guys a terrible draw
Two hands down the NCAA second round loss to Nevada. Cincinnati was a #2 seed and the south bracket was busted open for us had we won the game. We had a 22 point lead with about 10 minutes to go and BLEW the fuggin' game losing by two points. It still hurts. Why the hell did I even bring it up...
