OMW...just gotta fight the traffic through the blight of Louisiana, aka Refineryville aka Baton Rouge.
ETA 4 pm.
Hope you have some spare room in your car....USM marketing is giving away 5 TVs tonight (43") in a drawing. All you have to do is fill out an entry form at the marketing table upon arrival
you guys should have led with that!
Trying to make sure all 5 TVs stay with the "home team fans".....J/K Safe travels to all and hoping for the start of an exciting basketball series/rivalry
Took my shot on getting a TV, no bueno. Oh well, the Cajuns win was a good enough consolation prize. Btw, nice campus; although I can see why so many USM fans talk about how much the b-ball arena needs updating.

Not good, not bad. A little less than expected but it was a good crowd. With the COVID stuff still going on and masks being required to be worn during the games I think most schools will see attendance down a little this year.
How is this being enforced during the games?
ODU, a state institution, is subject to the whims of our blackface, wishy-washy governor. Fans are required to wear masks upon entry to the Constant Arena. But once inside, fans are then treated with the respect due to all adults and can choose whether to keep their masks or remove them once in their seats. My guess is that fewer than 10% of those in attendance were wearing masks during the actual game this past Wednesday.
And even if instructed to do so, how can < 100 ushers and security personnel possibly force 5,000 (or so) unmasked people to put on and keep on masks?
Edit: B.t.w., I do not doubt that covid will affect attendance numbers this coming season. It is a serious disease, and I fully understand the concerns of those who would rather not be in the vicinity of fully vaxxed/unmasked clowns like me.

It is not.... Most at the game were not wearing a mask....This was a good crowd for Marshall at this point in the season.... Usually it picks up after the Holiday season.

5011 in attendance for ODU at JMU. Loud crowd for the first D1 team coming to our new arena. I have a feeling Sun Belt basketball could get into the 10th best conference range in a few years

I wish (A10/Large Va Public/former conference mate and Final Four...for you SBCers) George Mason was a Saturday game with no football game to compete with...
I think that would be a 8,500 sell out...Friday night w/o students, not so much

EDIT: Looks like a few thousand people are there.
It's not bad.
3401 in attendance
Small crowd - but looks like a fun atmosphere.

App State basketball has been abysmal for going on 13-14 years. Two bad hires in a row and an athletic department that only focused on one sport. Our current AD Doug Gillan has made basketball a priority again and made a really good hire who made the tournament last year. It’s his 3rd season and things are starting to trend upwards for the program.
Everyone knows winning is infectious. If we keep doing it the crowds will come back.
